Re: Sexual question...

If you are to embarassed to ask....maybe you can do it this way, call the Dr's office and say I know I am on a no sex restriction, but am I also on a pelvic rest restriction? Pelvic rest means no orgasm at all, inner or outter. If you are not on pelvic rest, orgasms are fine on the outside.

Re: Sexual question...

Thanks tsw that makes me feel better. I'm not the only woman to winder these things. Oral makes sense with bacteria. I will ask her tomorrow. I had all my stuff done through my belly so I'm sure she will say outer is ok before the 6 weeks but I'll suck it up and ask to be sure.

Re: Sexual question...

Your Dr will have been asked that question hundreds of times so don't be embarrassed. The first words out of my mouth to my Dr following my surgery were 'when can I have sex?' This was the morning following my surgery...lol.
I have a feeling that when I get the much anticipated 'all clear', that I will not feel ready physically as I still have a bit of pain. Emotionally, I was ready 2 weeks ago! We have played around and everything still works - it just feels a little different.

Re: Sexual question...

EODwife85......You made me giggle. I'm 52, been married to my guy for 33 years (he's retired Navy so I completely understand about the deployments, 20 years of them!) and I still cannot keep my hands off him. I was cleared for sex at 7 weeks but it took until about the 3 month mark for me to feel completely comfortable with intercourse. He's been very patient and of course, I've always made sure he was "happy" even if I wasn't ready to go yet. Hang in there, things will be great for you once you are healed.

Don't be afraid to ask your doctor! I promise you, he/she has heard just about everything there is to ask and will not make you feel uncomfortable. Just a simple "when can we resume intercourse" is easy enough. Good luck!!

Re: Sexual question...

like you tsw I just had to try. My libido is very much alive and although in my late 40's hubby and I are very sexually active. Had my first orgasm 3 weeks post op, with hubby stimulating me on the outside only. mutual masturbation works but no insertions of any kind.

Re: Sexual question...

TSW519 I have a question. I also ended up with a TAH. Does outside stimulation feel the same without a uterus. Congrats! I am happy your parts work.

Re: Sexual question...

It feels exactly the same as it did before! I was so worried that it wouldn't be the same or not happen at all, but that wasn't the case. AND...the plus to it all, I slept the best I've slept since surgery. I'm 43 and I asked my DD who's an RN if it would be the same. Her reply was "Ew! Mom! Don't ask me that. I don't even want to think about you doing THAT!" I'm still not interested in trying out the whole playground, but at least I know I still "work."

Re: Sexual question...

TSW, that's great. I'm so glad we can all come together here and share our experiences. It's good to know I'm not the only woman only days out from surgery thinking about these things LOL.

I can definitely settle for the manual stuff, it's something, right?

Re: Sexual question...

Thats what I thought. Better than nothing! I'm amazed at the openness of all the great people here. I've had some pretty weird questions and if I ask, someone has experienced it and answers me. I was pretty worried that I wouldn't have the "desire" anymore. I think I started climbing the walls at 2 weeks. More than before my surgery actually. I've heard horror stories from relatives and was worried sick that I'd never do the deed again. I've got more compassion, support, and answers from ladies I've never met than my own family. My husband has been great through all of this, but I knew he would be. I know I have alot of healing yet, but so far, this has been an amazing journey with ups, downs, twists, and turns. Through it all, having a sense of humor helped and when my humor was gone, I found it through someone else here. I hope you have a fast recovery and feel even better than before. Take it easy and keep getting lots of rest.
