Peperment tea and heat packs works well along with walking and resting and lots of water. Just don't over do the walking at first.

Re: gas pain? please help

I chewed those 125mg Simethicone anti gas chewable tablets like candy - and I still do at week 3.
Constantly.
It's the only thing that helps me still and I can;t stand the pressure without them.

I also take stool softeners and laxatives every day...so I dont have to push anything out...it's more like peeing from the rear....lessens the pain....
Hang in there...
And be careful, the pain meds can bind you up...be ready for it...do gas tabs, stool softeners, and laxatives.
Just clear which ones you're on with your doc.

gas pain? please help

Gas is definitely one of the more difficult aspects of this recovery. Gas x, heating pad, and laying on my left side with my arm above my head helps me with the pains. I hope you get some relief soon!

I swear the gas/bowel pain is worse than the surgical pain. Feels like I have a 50 pound weight in my rear end terrible I know but I am not sure how else to describe it. When my bowels gurgle I feel like I am going to come unglued.

I am on hydrocodone 10/325 and Toradol 10mg. I have taken 2 gas x pills, and at hospital day of surgery took 2 stool softeners and yesterday took 2 more before they sent me home and took 3 over the counter stool softeners at home today. Dont know what else to do?? I walk until I feel like i am so drained I am going to fall over. I have also tryed leaning on the bed and moving my hips back and forth in a rocking motion.

Any other natural suggestions or help that can be offered I will be eternally grateful (and so will my husband)
I totally understand. At times my pains were so bad during bm and urinating above my pubic bone that I thought I might collapse. It was like sharp pains that went away but when they come on, never like anything before. My post op is tomm; they will check me for uti but just told me to take Colace and push fluids. I am drinking lemon water and cranberry juice. Be careful if you feel better of overdoing food or spicy things; I think I took it for granted and it hurt me terribly! Rest a lot but walking helps and also, I even hurt when I urinate like a gas pain is stuck! Let them go and try not to tense up. Check your temps; I have been running a low grade temp for 4 days.

Re: gas pain? please help

I do have temp. Dr said with temp and a tight belly he is concerned about infection and prescribed me cephalexin today. I am taking a daily dose of miralax, drinking lots of water and cranberry juice but no BM today or yesterday. But I also haven't eaten much due to the pain

Re: gas pain? please help

I take stool softeners, drink mineral oil, and take a laxative (I take both chocolate lax AND I do the miralax)...and about every 3 days I go and go and go...and it's like peeing from my backside... but I dont have to push and it doesn't hurt.

The gas-x gets rid of the gas once I'm good and empty.

It beats being bound up like I was the first two weeks.

I had a fever (low grade) that ran over two weeks after surgery and it just sort of cleared up...

Re: gas pain? please help

I found peppermint tea and a heating pad were the only things that helped and I tried everything. Hope the pressure gets better. I agree with you as to it being the worst part. No bueno!
