Re: Stomach swollen

I am almost 4 weeks post-op and i still get swelly belly. I can wear some of my pre-op jeans though . I've read from other "sisters" that the swelling can last for months!! For me, it's much worse in the evening or if I do too much. I think we just have to take it easy and be patient

Re: Stomach swollen

I had this done vaginally and I still get swelly belly when I've done too much. Be prepared for it to be around for awhile since you have incisions.

It seems to be due to the surgery and nature's way of telling us to rest.

Re: Stomach swollen

Thank you guys, it really help to know that I'm not alone on this.

I feel defenatelly better every day. I have some other issues, like hemorrhoid. Could be from resting , laying down or seating. I have been reading that do not let myself constipated, so I'm drinking plenty of water and eating veggies and fruits. To keep the bowel mov going. Prior to the surgery I have never have a problem with BM.
When I had my baby, that is 4yrs old now, I didn't remember much of this, she was a c-section also. I guess that I was busy with the baby instead of just taking it easy!
Thank you again!

Re: Stomach swollen

I had abdominal swelling until about day 4 or 5 post-op. I drank tons of water the first week. I've been slacking at that into my third week.

I would agree to be patient. I know how frustrating the bloating is. Hang in there!

Re: Stomach swollen

I had a TAH and had swelling for the first 8 weeks and then off and on for a year.

I know it's frustrating but remind yourself that it takes a year to fully heal and usually the swelling is your body telling you to take it a little easier. Rest helps the fluid redistribute in the body instead of pooling in the area of trauma. It's a sign of healing.

Re: Stomach swollen

It's nice to be prepared on all of this. My doctor keeps saying I'll be back to normal and doing everything I did before by week six. I keep wondering how that's possible right now. Thanks for sharing that it takes time and resting is not a bad thing!
