Question.. Palpatations

Hi Everyone..

I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis last month. Also have reoccurring cysts on both ovaries and "possible" Endometriosis. I have a Hysterectomy scheduled for the removal of Uterus and both Ovaries on July 27th.

Yesterday went to doctor for yeast infection and being treated for that. Today I called and spoken to nurse regarding palpitations that are felt in my upper stomach area.. very annoying. I am also being treated for anemia and believed it was caused by that. Today they were very overwhelming and thought I better check on it. Nurse pulled my latest blood work results and showing that my hemoglobin and fine. Not sure why the palpitations are happening. She will contact doctor and doctor will call to discuss further.

Has anyone experience palpitations? They tend to come more when I am lying down or sitting in a certain position. Not sure if the Adenomyosis may be causing them or maybe it is a hormonal thing.

Thanks

Re: Question.. Palpatations

I'm not sure what you're describing. You say upper stomach - is it intestinal?

Re: Question.. Palpatations

Hi - I have heart palpitations as well. I have been diagnosed with Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia. Which in laymans terms just means occasional irregular heart beat. It's not dangerous as long as it doesn't last over 72 hours.

Stress and anxiety make them happen more often. Getting ready for the surgery is huge stress (I know I had mine on June 22nd).

I have read online that hormonal issues can cause palpitations as well.

I would discuss this with your surgeon. The hospital I had my surgery at did an EKG on me before surgery just in case.

What's most important is to try to relax, I know it's much easier said than done. The more stressed you are the worse the palpitations.

(((hugs)))

Re: Question.. Palpatations

I recieved call back from nurse relaying message from doctor. Doctor said that when my MRI was done there was nothing showing there of concern and if it continues to be bothersome to come in for exam. Palpatations not as bad now. I have had them in the past but feeling was more in the throat area. These are upper stomach below rib cage. Very well can be stress.. Even though I feel I am not stressin out. Well I will pray for best and hopefully they will go away.
Thanks so much

Re: Question.. Palpatations

I had something similar. They think the ibuprofen I was taking caused issues with stomach - leading to reflux. It feels like a fluttering sort of thing in my throat. Though I've had reflux before, it didn't present this way. I actually thought maybe my thyroid was fluttering. When it first started there was some cramping - they did some blood tests to make sure it wasn't related to my heart.

Prilosec helped a bit, as did cutting back on soda, caffeine, and alcohol. If you can sleep at all propped up it can really help as well. I'm having an endoscope and colonoscopy this week so I guess they'll be able to tell me for sure then.

Although if they think I'm not taking some sort of NSAID after surgery they're insane! This past week has been a nightmare without them.

Re: Question.. Palpatations

Those symptoms sound similar to mine when I have heartburn (which can be brought on and worsen with stress) I take Prilosec and it helps. If it worsens by all means go get an exam. Listen to your doctor. Good luck

Re: Question.. Palpatations

I have had blood work for my thyroid and all came back ok.

Never thought of the reflux giving me a feeling like this because I take prescribed meds for that. I was diagnosed with reflux disease a few years back. Perhaps with all that is going on with other parts of my body it is throwing off the workings of my digestive track.
Thank God I haven't felt that severe palpitations in a couple of days.
I also upped my water intake and eating a little more frequent.

Thank you all for your support

Re: Question.. Palpatations

Yep...I have palpitations too....thought it was from my anemia. I was terrified that I was going to have a heart attack on the operating table. I told my anesthesiologist and apparently it was no big deal... Good luck!!!
