Liver Lesions

It has been 1 year exactly this month since I was declared cancer-free. And all my treatments for CC stopped. Other than only having 1 kidney function, I've been doing ok.
But I had my (every 6 month) scan 2 days ago. Instead of a PET scan, it was a CT scan, due to insurance not covering a PET scan.
It came back with 2 lesions on my liver. So my chemo DR is suggesting a PET scan. I haven't spoken with my rad-onc or gyno-onc, yet. (rad-onc orders my scans)
Please say something positive and calming. My anxiety has already been through the roof, Ativan not helping much lately. I was terrified they'd find something on my female organ parts or my kidney.....but my liver???

(((KTnAL)))

Oh, sweetie. Things can present on CT scans that aren't cancer, so it could still be some other benign process. The PET would of course provide more clarification. Please keep in mind that you don't know anything for certain at this point. We know how hard that is.

I'm sending huge hugs your way as well as prayers and positive thoughts. Please keep us posted, (((KT))).

Re: Liver Lesions

Remember, KT, as was said, sometimes things show up as spots on a CT and it turns out to be nothing. I understand your fear but try to wait until you know for sure. That waiting is the worst, it gives your mind a chance to think the worst. Try to assume it's nothing until proven otherwise------thats my approach and it helps me through things. Remember, we are here to get you through this. I'm sending positive thoughts for a good PET scan.

Re: Liver Lesions

I'll also keep you in my prayers that this spot on your liver turns out to be nothing. My CT scan awhile back showed some sort of spots on my kidneys and they said it was just cysts and nothing to worry about.

Re: Liver Lesions

hugs. i feel your pain and second what's already been said (easier said than done, i know). at the moment i'm finding it helpful to do things that make my brain too busy to think about what might be. crossword puzzles, reading, computer games, etc. if i can get myself involved in these things, there's no room in my head for worrying.

Re: Liver Lesions

Thank You All (((hugs)))
The rad-onc actually changed it from a PET scan to a biopsy. She said she'd rather just get the most accurate results the first time. If anyone has had a liver biopsy, or knows someone that has.....and has GOOD stories to tell about it.....please feel free to share.
I am so depressed today, I sure hope tomorrow is better.

Re: Liver Lesions

Actually my SIL had a liver biopsy and said it was nothing. I thought it would be more stressful but she said no big deal at all. That's my only experience with it but it sounded pretty reassuring if I ever needed one. I'm sending good thoughts for yours.
