Re: doctors orders?
I will probably get bashed for this but I kinda agree with him. I had robotic and was back to my normal self by 3 days post op. My only restriction was no lifting over 10lbs. I didn't just lay around all day. I got up and walked a lot. I did most of my normal routine around the house. I know If I would have laid around I would have felt worse.

Re: doctors orders?
I had the robot assisted and my doctor said if you have a desk job or job where you can sit and move around just a little you might be able to go back at 2 weeks. No doctor I know has ever said you can go back after 3 days. Most of us are still taking rest breaks at 3 days.

Re: doctors orders?
Nobody's going to bash you for that! That's fantastic your recovery went great! I am so happy for you. I wish mine had gone like yours for sure!!We all heal differently. You also said you had a 10 lb weight lifting restriction, the original posters doc is telling her she can lift her 22 lb baby right after surgery. He seems unrealistic. Fast recovery is a blessing, but it isn't something her doc should be guaranteeing her, as many of us robot ladies don't have your great recovery. She needs to be prepared and plan for recovery, then if she's a quickie like you she can cancel her help.Better to be prepared and not need it than it is to not have any help at all and find your desperately needing it!!

Re: doctors orders?
Thank you all so much for caring about my situations. As far as everything goes I did talk with my doctor the one who I wanted to do the surgery and she said yes after all my tears were shed. Thank God for answered prayers. As for the healing factor I am very over weight not so much as I'm stuck in my chair and can't move but being over weight has a lot of problem in itself and will take more time to heal. And picking up my beautiful baby is a blessing in itself and if I ever dropped her from being in pain and she got hurt I would blame the doctor for telling me its ok. But my appointment is Monday for my new scheduled date I am excited less scared and feel a great amount of stress off of me thank you all for supporting me while I make big decisions for myself

Re: doctors orders?
you should not have to call other doctors for post-op instructions. I think you should be calling other doctors to schedule your surgery and FIRE this insensitive so-called surgeon

Re: doctors orders?
Miracle -
I'm so sorry this has been so difficult for you - doctors are supposed to make this easier, not harder. It's good you got back to your old doctor.
Here's what my doctor said about taking care of my daughter - that I could not do it. Basically she said that after a few days I'd probably be able to take care of myself - but that she did not want me to be the primary person in charge of my daughter until she saw me again to evaluate (4 weeks post op).
If you read posts you will see things from lots of women who said they felt great, over did it (lifting, overactive, etc.) and hurt their recovery.
I'm thrilled you now have a doctor your trust - it's so important. Make sure to talk to her about what you can do with your daughter post op. For example, I doubt you should put her in a crib, give her a bath in a tub, lift her onto a changing table, or try to put her in height chair - those are all things bothering me now with the back pain.
My prayers are with you. I know from your posts you've had a rough time these past few weeks - please know that you have many people here to support you.
Hang in there!
Heather

Re: doctors orders?
I"m so glad to hear that your old Dr has agreed to do this for you -- it makes SUCH a big difference. My personal opinion you should meet with her and your hubby together and hear about the restrictions etc that you will need to pay attention to. We all heal differently so you need to for sure listen to your body. Let your hubby be the primary lifter when it comes to your daughter. I think you are so much better off getting back to your old Dr. Whew! That makes me feel better for you Best wishes!!

Re: doctors orders?
I am glad to hear you have a new dr. I am 2 weeks post op today. Thankfully, I have a dr who is compassionate and understanding. He told me, as of today, to do what I feel comfortable with. However, he was adamant about no heavy lifiting for at least 6 weeks. As I have read on this site many times "you have only one chance to heal" and I am making sure I do it right. I hope you do as well!

Re: doctors orders?
Hi glad you are getting the doctor you want even if it means postponing, hope she can fit you in soon. My daughter was a c-section and I had another smaller procedure when she was just over a year old. To avoid some of the lifting situations I bought a yoga mat, put a rug on it and covers as needed and knelt to do changing, dressing and things like that. I also got my daughter a small table and chair that she could eat at though she was still a bit young. She was thrilled. Sometimes I just washed her with a warm wash cloth on the mat when I couldn't do a bath. Some parents I know have put their kid to sleep on a mattress on the floor instead of having to lift into a cot, you could try it at nap time. Of course you can still hug and cuddle your child as long as she is put on the sofa with you rather than picking her up. And when out I asked strangers, usually the more relaxed looking mothers, if they would help me put my kid in the car seat or load groceries in the car. Usually people would help though I sometimes had to tell them I had surgery. Hope your DH turns around and helps you out a lot. Good luck with your new date.
