Making myself crazy - anyone know what this lump is?

I'm thinking it's just cancerhead getting the best of me, but thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone has any ideas. I read today that cervical cancer and vulvar cancer sometimes happen together. I know...I should stay off the internet. Anyway, I've had this little flesh colored lump just under the skin near the edge of my outer labia fairly close to the hair line, but a little ways from it. It's been there for at least three years and hasn't changed size, doesn't itch, isn't irritated, doesn't hurt. I always thought it was a cyst of some type and forgot about it. Well, after I read that, I looked at it again and it now has a little black dot in the center of it. There's also another teeny tiny lump nearby, also with a tiny black dot in the middle. I've googled vulvar cancer extensively (!) and it doesn't seem to fit that description, but now my mind is running away with me and all I can think is, oh crap, I have that too! I can't find anything on the internet that fits the description of what this looks like.

I go in for my cone biopsy on Monday so I think when I see the doc before the surgery, I'm going to tell him it's there and ask him to have a look at it, since he'll be down there anyway. I've had multiple pelvic exams with the bump there and I don't think they ever noticed it. I forget it's there, too, and until it got the black dot, it was hard to see unless you were looking for it.

Any ideas what this might be?

Re: Making myself crazy - anyone know what this lump is?

Our bodies can create some interesting things, can't they? The fact that it has been around three years with no change/symptoms, and it hasn't raised a red flag to the docs doing your exams during this time would give me some measure of comfort. That being said, I'd certainly bring this to your doc's attention now, and be sure he knows about the new changes as well.

One of the "good" things about a cancer diagnosis is that we do tend to pay (even) closer attention to our bodies and check things out we otherwise might have let slide. As time passes, you will develop a pretty good balance so that you aren't seeing cancer around every corner but are still proactive with your care. You will get there, promise!

Re: Making myself crazy - anyone know what this lump is?

i went to the doc a couple of years back, convinced i had genital warts coming up, even tho i hadn't been sexually active for several years. i had first one, then another lump come up down there. they're kinda flesh coloured, but have darkened a bit as they have "matured". turns out they're just very common thickening of the skin that happen as you get older. he did say a name, i think starting with k, but all i really heard was "harmless". they/re just like skin tags apparently.

if it's worrying you, go get it checked out. no point working yourself up into a lather when it's most likely something totally benign, hey?

Re: Making myself crazy - anyone know what this lump is?

I vaguely remember talking to the doctor as I was coming out of anesthesia yesterday. I may have dreamed this entire conversation, but I kind of remember asking him if he saw the bump while he was down there and him replying that he didn't see anything unusual and he would look again when he's back there for my hyster on Thursday. I could have imagined the whole conversation, but I'll mention it to him when I see him next. I'm really thinking now it's just a clogged pore or something like that!
