Hi golden have you seen a physio yet? Mine said not to try and get up with a sit up or pulling on something movement. Instead roll onto side on edge of bed with knees bent and pulled up at right angles with both arms on same side. Then you have to kind of swing yourself to sitting in one movement by letting your lower legs out of bed and fall down while at same time pushing up with elbow and hand keeping your body as aligned as possible. It is hard to describe. Easier if someone can show you or you could find video. And if still in hospital lower bed as much as you can so your feet land flat and steady on floor. Have someone with you when you try it. Hope that helps.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 16-Jul 22,2012

My surgery was on July 18. Went very well. I was very uncomfortable laying in bed all day with the catheter in but the cath did not hurt. I am not used to laying around though and that is going to be the hardest part for me.
I got out of the hospital July 19 in the AM. Passing gas, but did not realize they pumped gas into you during surgery and mine settled into my shoulder. I was told it would probably move when I got up and walke daround. That did not help. When I got home, I laid down with a heating pad on my shoulder and that really seemed to help.
I am a side sleeper, but it is still uncomfortable to lay on my side. Hoping that gets better quickly!
HUGS to all my hyster sisters! Lets all get well quickly!

I've taken Gas -X, and am drinking lots of water. Very uncomfortable. I wish I could some how release the gas, but having no luck. Any ideas would be great!
I feel for you with the gas. I have not taken any GasX yet. Does it seem to help? I still have not had a BM either and am dreading that! Anyone know if a stool softener would be helpful now?
Hope you feel better soon!

Just have to be firm reasonable and polite do the action is not security. Good luck.
It was like a bad episode of twilight zone. Its like feeling like you are talking but nothing comes out. No one hears me. This morning my new nurse came in and she was appalled. I said i dont know if they were just busy she said no and that it wasnt proper care. They didnt read my chart. Didnt know i had cath. Didnt know anything. Didnt follow schedule for my meds and gave meds outside of schedule. It sycks to be invisable. Its already a dark and hollow place to be but this just creeped me out. Gave me bladder spaz med. When i told them i was terribly nauseated they said headache and nausea are not side effects of that med. During the night i looked it up and they are the top 2 side effects. Just want to go home. Cant stop crying (which bugged the night staff) i need my husband.

I must have been very lucky in the hospital. My nurses were wonderful! All I had to do was press the call light and someone came quickly. They answered my questions as best they could and were very friendly and understanding. It is good to be on the other side. I have not had any emotional "problems" or anything yet, so hoping I will not have any break downs or anything. Not feeling too tired, just tired of laying around. Don't want to overdo it but feel like doing something. Cabin fever is setting in all ready and just got home yesterday.

Last night was the first issue i had with the staff. The charge nurse just came in so i got a chance to talk to her about what happened. I am not a complainer but it felt good to be able to talk to her about what happened. The hospital is a hard place to be and ive been here since tuesday morning. Im tired if this bed :-)
