Hormone Pellets?

Anyone tried the implantable subcutaneous estrogen pellets?

Re: Hormone Pellets?

Yes I did do estrogen & testosterone pellets after my hysterectomy. I had tried estrogen tablets......patches..gave me headaches.....creams, but they didn't raise my levels much.

The pellets were a God-send as my level were undetectable and I was in the worst depression of my life. I had a great doc and nurse practitioner that had allot of experience with pellets and knew how to monitor my levels.

The actual placement wasn't too painful. They of course numb your skin then they're inserted in your lower abdomen. They always gave me a small ice pack to put over the incision area to help reduce swelling.

At the time, estrogen pellets were FDA approved, but the testosterone ones were....not sure if that has changed. So I had to pay for the actual estrogen pellets, but the incision and testosterone pellets were covered by insurance.

After about a year, something strange happened and I had a pellet last for over a year and my estrogen level was too high for most of that time. That was not fun. My level was around 220.

So, I would recommend trying other methods first because you can't make adjustments once they're in. Have you tried other methods?

Hugs,
Gina
