Crave Sugar, No Energy/Motivation, Stress

Hello Everyone,

My surgery was 12/19 and feel better on the inside but 20 lbs heavier on the outside. Having problems with nervous eating, low energy and sugar cravings. I probably need to get to bed earlier and also push myself a little harder. I probably cause most of the stress by making mountains out of mole hills. Having trouble getting enough energy and shaking the sugar, caffeine too. Half of the weight gain was actually before the surgery (a year and a half before). I am currently using the .1 vivelle dot. I had a total hysterectomy. Endo had covered one of my kidneys and I was in alot of pain which I don't have anymore. Just not comfortable in clothes which feels crappy. My goal is to be like this

It may help to start keeping a journal of everything you're eating. A journal may help to see where you are going wrong and may give you an aha moment. That is; once you put it in writing, it may help you to make a change.

I cannot forego caffeine completely, but do limit myself to a cup and half of coffee during the week at work and one cup on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Occassionally, we will do Starbucks, but that is only occassionally. Instead of diet coke, I have a diet sprite or diet 7 up in the afternoon on the weekdays when I am craving something carbonated.

I drink lots more water now than I did before. I buy True lemon packets and add a few to my water with a package or two of sweet n low.

My hubby is overweight and has started a lo carb diet. He has lost 30 lbs since starting it. I've started doing similiar, while I don't need to lose much weight, I am finding myself much less swollen. I am amazed at the difference in my dh since he started this. And in myself. Not feeling so bloated and swollen all the time really makes a difference for us.

I have attempted this with a smart phone app called MyFitnessPal, I just need to commit my whole heart to it. When I eat, I need to be honest about it and record it instead of assuming it is 2 oz. when it could be 4 or 5.

Re: Crave Sugar, No Energy/Motivation, Stress

butterfly, just thought I'd put out there that when I have too much estrogen, I crave sweets/carbs.

I eat Primal now which is basically no processed foods of any kind. (90/10 because I do still have coffee and a little cheese) and it helps in a lot of ways. It's meat, vegs, fruits, nuts

I did it very slowly because trying ot eliminate all the (bad) good stuff and also watch calories was too hard. I started one food at a time with the first and most difficult (for me) being wheat products. I've lost 60 lbs since Oct 2010 and feel much more energized and on top of things.
