sexual difficulty

Dear fellow members,

I hope someone can share and give me some insight. I am distressed, and have no where to turn.

It has been a little over a year since my surgery. I had a vaginal hysterectomy, with removal of tubes, ovaries, a cystocele repair, a rectocele repair, and a transvaginal bladder sling replaced. I had my procedure, mainly because of bladder incontinence. I have my dignity back, thank God, and I am truely grateful for that. No more peri menopausal mood swings !!!!! However, intercourse has been a problem ever since my procedure, and it never has been an issue for us.

We have been married for 20 years, and have 3 children. I understand that over time, peoples desires will wax and wane. I get that. But ever since my surgery, penetration has been an issue. I understand that I had sutures in 3 different areas.......the vaginal cuff, the front wall of the vagina, and the back wall, as lack of lubrication due to removal of the dervix. Vaginal dilators seem to be not working so well. We do use lubricant, but that doesn't seem to be helping. I am on the verge of tears. Initially, my husband didn't say anything, as he didn't want to hurt my feelings. But by NOT saying anything, my getting any kind of help was delayed. I have lost hope. If anyone else has gone thru this, what has/hasn't worked for you? Please, I feel SOOOOOOO alone.

Re: sexual difficulty

Have you talked to ur dr about bio feedback vaginally? I am starting that soon and I am really hoping that helps us. It's been nearly a year for me and we have had sex 3 times. Not ok with me, and not good for our relationship. I have heard really great things about the biofeedback.

He also told me progestrone would help with desire too.

Re: sexual difficulty

he is saying it doesn't bother him, but we are both getting discouraged. will ask about the bio feed back. at this point, i am thinking adhesions............yesterday, i had back pain like i used to have before my periods started !!!! dr is very encouraging..........easy to talk to about things like this. we are finding other ways to give pleasure, and trying different things........just hope something works sooner, rather than later.......or at all
