Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012
If your hysterectomy was between Jul 23-Jul 29,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.
If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.
Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.
We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!
How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:
- 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.
- 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.
- 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.
- 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.
- 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!
- 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012
Hello ladies - welcome to 'our' thread. My name is Sue, and along with Michelle, I am one of the Sunshine Sisters allocated to your thread to assist you on your journey. We are not medics or trained, just 2 ladies who have gone through the same as you, which makes it easy to relate to how you feel, any of your concerns, how you are feeling, the good and bad days etc.
FYI, I live in the UK and had a TVH with A/P repairs on 12th December 2011 so I am only 7 months post-op. They say it takes a year to be fully recovered so I am still on my journey but am feeling great and will help you in any way I can to get through your first 8 weeks.
I will try and log in every day for the gossip and to catch up but sometimes life takes over so if you don't see me for a few days, I haven't forgotten you.
So, when you feel like it, just let us know how the op went, how you are feeling and let's get our team up and running.
Big hugs to you all

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012
Hi, Im new to the site, I had my hysterectomy on June 28 2012. I thought I was doing well with listening to my doctor but got ahead of myself one day thinking I was well enough to go grocery shopping. I over did it and now I am scared to death that I may have caused some damage. How would I know?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012
Good Morning:O) It is very easy for us to get to feeling good and wanting to get back to normal, we get ahead of ourselves. Signs your body is telling you you over did it are: increased swelly belly, spotting more then before, more fatigue. As far as causing damage and knowing, is not so easy. That is something that time will tell. The only thing you can do is take it easy, even if you are feeling so well. Give your body all the time you can to heal. If you can't put your mind at ease, call your dr and ask them for an appt to check things out. I'm sure you didn't cause any magor damage, you just need to sit down put your feet up and RELAX. Good Luck!
PS. Here is the link to the group of women who had their hysterectomies the same week as you. You may find talking to them more comforting. Recovery Progress Reports June 24-July1

Good Morning Ladies:O)
My name is Michelle, and like Sue, I am a Sunshine Sister. We are here to guide you through the roller coaster that is recovery. Sue has already mentioned we are not doctors or specially trained, just 2 women that have been where you are going. We will do our best to put your minds at ease, but sometimes there is no replacement for speaking or seeing your dr.
A bit about me: I had a TVH with anterior repairs, vaginal vault suspension, trans vaginal taping(ureathal sling) and left salpingo-oopherectomy on Valentine's Day 2011. So I am about a year and a half post-op. From my sig you can see I have had some bumps along the road, but I am glad I started the journey and even happier that I found this site. I am enjoying giving back and hope that Sue and I can make you feel the same way.
Here are a few links for when you are feeling well enough to spend some time on here reading:

I hope to "see" lots of you ladies as soon as you are feeling up to posting:O)

Hi Lorriwuvsu, Pleased to hear the op went well. Rest as much as you can and you will feel very tired and sleepy. Don't try and overdo it when you get home as it can take a week/10 days to get over the anathesetic.
Big hugs and keep in touch

Hello from Arkansas
Hi everyone. Thank you for making this thread available for us. I had the hysterectomy yesterday and am not improving as quickly as I expected.
My doctor typically keeps patients overnight and lets them go in the morning. However, after they took out my catheter last night I wasn't able to pee. I stayed up most of the night trying since I didn't think I could go home without doing that. Finally today, I have been able to pee some if I turn on the water and pee standing up only!
Now they are unhappy that I havent passed gas. They tell me I won't go home until they can hear more gurgling. The gas pains are finally beginning to move around a little moreso I'm hoping we see some improvement when the doctor comes back this afternoon.
Hope everyone else is doing ok! Marion

Re: Hello from Arkansas
Hi Marion - first of all welcome to the thread. Please don't stress yourself by worrying that you should be better than you feel. You have had major surgery and it is different for every single one of us (you'll discover a lot more of this through your recovery). I always say that it's not a race to see who heals first, the important thing is to heal. Just rest, do what the Doc says and take each day as it comes. We are here to offer you all the support you need but you are in the best possible place if there are any problems.
Big hugs
Sue xx
