Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012

Well, my hysterectomy was yesterday at 1PM. Less than 24 hours later I was home. I do have abdominal pain and am still in a loopy state as my husband calls it. He has been by side every moment and spoiling me. The hardest part of all this is asking for help. I am a pretty independent person, so I am not used to asking for help just to get out of the chair. LOL All in all, things are good. I send blessings to all who are recovering also!

God Bless,
Kimber

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012

Good Evening Ladies,

I had my surgery (TAH) this past Monday. They also removed my left tube & ovary. My pathology came back cancer free!!!

Day #1 went pretty good. Pain was managed by the pump. I had a catheter in and all was well with the world. LOL

Day #2 was terrible for me. I had severe gas problems. Bleh!

I came home yesterday & I'm doing great so far. I like to set small manageable goals for myself. Today, for example, I added another lap to the walking that I do around the top floor of my home. I'm now up to 5 laps twice a day! I like doing "bed" exercises like toe stretches, knee bends & turning onto my sides. They may seem small or even insignificant but they are definately helping. My goal for tomorrow? I plan to go downstairs (assisted) & spend some time with my family. Achieving each one makes me feel more productive & proactive towards my course of healing. Another goal for today was reached thanks to my loving husband. My first shower was absolutely heaven!!!

One of the nicest things about being home? The support & love of my wonderful family. I'll post back next week after my first postoperative doctors appointment. Until then... Wishing you all the best in your recovery too

Hello sisters,
I had my hystertomy yesterday, the 25th. I am at my mom's house. My DaVinci was so easy. I am having very little pain.
I am cancer free. I am waiting for the full report, but also hoping that is cancer free. Wishing you a restful recovery.

Hello Everyone, Day 2 went well, pain is tolerable but the gas has been driving me nuts!! Kept taking the Miralax & took some Gas-X, finally had my first bm this evening. So glad it was not the numerous days some are experiencing. My Mom is here for a week spoiling me and my teenage boys are Awesome, oh and husband does not leave my side. I feel very special and very happy I made this decision.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012

Hello to all the new ladies that have recently joined the thread - welcome aboard the crazy bus to recovery! It will be one of the best / hardest / rewarding experiences you will ever go through - believe me. You will learn so much about you and your body and will look back at the end of it with a sense of achievement but will also have met some lovely ladies along the way.
Take each day as it comes, if you have a concern look for a link on the site to see whether it's normal, if it gets worse then consult your doctor. Always remember that you have had MAJOR SURGERY - the body takes time to get over the surgery as organs have been moved /touched, your hormones are all over the place so there will be tears, you will have gas and pain but it is all normal. There was an organ called a uterus and it is no longer there so the body needs time to adapt to its loss.
You can rant, cry, laugh - do what ever you want on this site but there will always be someone there to support you, especially Michelle and I.
Just take your time, rest and don't be too harsh on yourselves.

Big hugs

Sue xx
