Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012

I'm home now and not feeling to bad. Most of my pain is in my back ( I have 2 herniated disks and all that laying around sure did aggravate them!) My surgery went well but ended up loosing both ovaries. No hot flashes yet. Doc glued my incision and it really looks great, bruised but it should heal nicely.Time to take another pill and go nappy. Lots of love and many hugs to all of you!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 23-Jul 29,2012

Hello, I had a total on Tuesday July 24, feeling better good. The third day was awful, gas pains, and etc. finally started passing gas and able to have a bowel movement, which was WONDERFUL...never thought I would be so happy to do that. My legs and ankles are very swollen, I keep drinking a lot of water and juice and peeing a lot, but still a lot of swelling.
I had a large tumor on my right ovary(as large as my head, and weight about 5.5 lbs) that was the main reason for my surgery, and i will turn 50 Aug 5, so just told him take "whatever" i didnt want to have to go back in later on. Lol
So far all the tests have come back clean, but pretty large cut about 3 inches above belly button, and all the way down, so I sure my recovery will be awhile. Good luck to all recoveries and future "sisters"

Good to hear you are feeling somewhat better. Sorry you have to deal with the large incision, but think about not having that additional 5.5lbs....lol. Best wishes on a speedy & full recovery

Glad your tests are coming back clean. Sorry you are dealing with such a large incision. Keep drinking the water, GAs X and small amounts of walking helped move the gas for me. Take it easy, and rest. HUGS ~cls8hope

My surgery (Da vinci) was the 23rd and I am feeling pretty good, tired off on and on but really good--except the gas. Ugh, doing the gas x which helps...do not eat gassy foods like i did (ouch) I am sticking with bland easy digestible food for now. I am wearing a path in my floors walking out some of the gas which helps. Good Luck to you!

WELCOME!!! Wanting to sleep a lot the first few days is absolutely normal!! You will find that you require more sleep than normal for several weeks post op as your body is working hard to heal. I hope your gas and leg pains settles down very soon!!

WELCOME!!!! A lot of sisters have that type of pain, I am so sorry it is bringing tears to your eyes though. Are you taking your pain meds at regular intervals or just when you feel you really need them?? It is best in the first few days to take them at regular intervals to stay ahead of the pain. Also are you experiencing any fever, strong foul odor or discharge?? If you are experiencing any of those things with the pain, you may have an infection and then you would need to contact your dr asap. Sending some extra healing hugs your way!!

Now if this nausea would go away that would be nice......
It does stink to be the one left behind, but I hope that you got to relax. I also hope your nausea has settled down.

WELCOME!!!! Wonderful to hear that your surgery went so well and that you got to go home so soon. Even though you are feeling so well, you may still experience some down days. Please still be careful doing things, you have a lot of healing left to do.
