HOT flashes

TAH 6/15 (left ovaries) - Periodically before surgery I would have warm flashes. Now they are down right HOT! One night after a glass of beer I woke up on fire! (Note to self: drink alcohol and pay the price). I have hot flashes after I eat and several other time...gee having one right now...awesome.

What are some remedies? I don't really want to take estrogen because my aunt died of breast cancer and she was on HRT. Have any of you had any luck with natural remedies. I have ordered a small fan for my bedside...can't wait until it gets here.

I had hot flashes bad following my tah/bso and I was placed on ert immediately after. I also found that if I drank any alcohol it was sure to set off a hot flash. I even did an experiment once, had a margarita with dinner and checked my watch. Sure enough within 10 minutes I was sweating bullets!

Some things that helped me were to sleep in a light cotton t-shirt with a fan blowing on me, always kept a glass of ice water nearby and bought one of those small battery operated fans.

Black Cohosh has helped me with the HOT flashes ... It does take about a month to notice a difference ... I still have them but not as severe !!! Hope this helps
