Question - How long before I experience symptoms? How long before I experience symptoms?

Hello Ladies,

I am new to this site and have questions in regards to how long after surgery did you start to experience symptoms. I had a hysterectomy in 2006 but kept both ovaries. I had one removed 2 years after surgery, and then my last ovary was removed 2 days ago. Im 46, and I believe I had actually went through the worst of my menapausal symptoms over the last 7 years. I have had no hotflashes at all, and I feel at peace...something I have not felt for a very long time.

Everyone is different. Some experience symptoms right away, some later on. Are you going to use hormone replacement?

Re: How long before I experience symptoms?

I had planned on use HRT all along, but now Im waiting to see if I completely fall apart...if so, then definately yes. I made an appt to see a Hormone specialist , but canceled. I guess it all depends on how I feel. I am so confused as to if I should,Or if I will even need them? I don't want to develop health issues... I know everyone is different, but what would you advise? I really haven't research to much on surgical Menapause, because this was such a sudden decision. Any wisdom would be appreciated...

Re: How long before I experience symptoms?

I was just getting ready to ask this exact question. I had 1 ovary removed 6yrs ago and then had the 2nd removed 3 days ago. So far I feel exactly the same. I haven't had any hot flashes or anything. I'm 36 and really expected to have noticed something by now. I'm not on any hormones at all. I'm wondering what the average time span is for women to start to menopause symptoms after the ovaries are gone?
