Does getting the staples out hurt

Gals,

So far my recovery has been MUCH easier than I expected, but Iam now 2 weeks post op and my staples come out tomorrow. They weren't "ready' last week and now I'm afraid they are gonna hurt to come out. I want them out - - the last day or so they've been pinching and pulling - but I'm scared!

Has anyone else had their staples in so long (2 weeks 2 days) and did it hurt when they finally came out?

Not as Long

Mine were only in for 4 1/2 days, but I can tell you (for what its worth) that it was absolutely, positively nothing having them out ..... maybe I'm naive, but I would think it would be easier the longer they are in cause you're more healed???

Regardless, good luck. You'll be fine. It'll be done and over with before you know it!

Does getting the staples out hurt

Hi Dorrie, Mine were in for 8 days. Some of them came right out without even knowing the nurse had removed them. I had several that seemed to be more attached to the surrounding skin that the others were. Those pinched a little. I don't think I'd call it pain at all. Just a pinch of the skin as the nurse removed them.

staples

My staples were in for two weeks. They did not hurt at all when they came out. Not even a pinch. Ellen

Does getting the staples out hurt

My staples were in for 10 days. Some of them I didn't feel at all, and others pinched a bit, but it was only minor discomfort, certainly not pain.

Good luck!

Does getting the staples out hurt

Hi Dorrie -

25 staples removed 4 days post TAH/BSO -- did not hurt at all -- couldn't even tell it was happening.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the quick response!

I trust all will be OK (though I will down an ibuprofen before I go).

mine were in for 8 days

...and they just feel *funny* coming out. Crumb, plucking my eyebrows hurts more!

Seriously, remember a LOT of nerves were damaged doing the incision... it really doesn't hurt. Kinda pulls, for lack of a better description.

You'll do great!

hello

Hi - I had drum roll......41 staples. YIKES. But you know what they didn't hurt coming out! I was so glad. They came out at 8 days. Steri strips went on.

I have to say I've used your "square eyes from tv" many times. I didn't know you were Kate By the Bay in chat. LOL brain fog.

Thanks

I made it - one or two of the staples pinched and stung a little, but it was no big deal. Thanks for your prompt answers - it made me a lot less nervous.

Dorrie
