What race of women get the most Fibroids and why?

It seems like Fibroids is not an important research to undertake? I am just wondering, on this site, is it all black women on her, or all white, or good mixture?

I am black and Filipina and I think it's a mixture of people on here. Both black and white.I've read that fibroids are more a common in black women.

There is research being done for fibroids and here is a link to a page that collects and summarizes the latest fibroid research: http://fibroids.researchtoday.net/

There are a wide range of treatment options available for them from medications to surgery and you can learn more by checking out our Fibroid Resources. There are even doctors who specialize in treating fibroids so you might want to see if there is one in your area.

Here at HysterSisters.com, we never ask for a woman's race or ethnicity so we do not have any stats specific to race and any health condition. However, according to most studies, African American women tend to have a greater risk than Caucasian women when it comes to fibroids and may actually have a higher risk than other racial groups as well:

I am white and had lots of fibroids. My middle sister is scheduled for surgery soon due to fibroids. My older sister has small fibroids that does not need surgery. I have other family members (aunts) that had surgery for fibroids.

Re: What race of women get the most Fibroids and why?

I'm white and had alot of fibroids. I don't remember any other women in my family having fibroids but they may not have talked about them.

Interesting to note - the doctor said that my scar was healing with excess tissue as in women of darker skin color. It's not a large buildup but enough for her to mention it. Keloid scar tissue I think she said. She thought it was interesting.

We're all in the same family anyway.

I've read that it's most common in African-American women (I'm one.) It doesn't surprise me if the link between parabens and fibroids is true. A lot of our hair care products contain parabens.

Re: What race of women get the most Fibroids and why?

YES, we are all in the same Family and I appreciate this site and it's members!!

I have worn my hair natural for more years than I can remember. I now use just Shea butter, while in the shower. I have not permed in 12rs or more. I just read, that they claim relaxers/hair products are causing fibroids but that is not so in my case.
I eat fairly well but indulge in sinful Yum Yums sometimes. I work out ad I look 20yrs younger on my good days. I get carded still.
I did notice that last year, my diet and stress levels went kapoowy and the bulge came and have stayed, even when I went on crash diets to get my disciplined diet routine back in order. I have had that bulge and discomfort years ago but again, I let me diet go and had stress.
I have recently policed my diet and my attitude, because I was told I had to have a hyster but I am on a fight for my own health. I feel better already, lost 5lbs from last week and I have a fire to win and get rid of these large FIBs.
I have just purchased these items. I can't wait to pump my fight up a notch. I will give myself 30 days to do this battle. If t does not work, I will have the surgery.
Red clover
Fibrovan
NATTOKINASE
PROGESTERONE
Astragalus Root
Black Walnut Hull
All but one of these are drops. I hope I see the shrinkage. I will post my finding when done and she everything, good and bad.
