Vaginal cuff tear granulation 12 1/2 weeks cancer recurrence so soon?
Trying to get my head around what might be next.
I had a radical hyster on May 1st 2012 for uterine cancer stage 1 grade 1. Fairly decent recovery all thing considered! Gyn/onc doctor and team determined no further treatment needed (no radiation/chemo).
I went back to work at 9 weeks, have had some sore days and lots of swelling and recently really sore achy pain in area of vagina. This past Thursday after a very strenuous day at work (waitress, lots of running around and heavy lifting) I noticed bright red blood spotting. Called Gyn/oncs office immediately. Was seen by surgeon the next morning. He said ther was a small vaginal cuff tear and a good amount of granulation in the scar area. He applied silver nitrate to the granulation and the tear. Wants to see me again this week, says I probably will have to have several treatments to close the tear and get rid of the granulation.
The big scare though is that he did a biopsy of the tissue to send for another path report to determine if there is any more cancer present!!!!! WHAT! Is it possible to have a recurrence this soon? I did have lymph nodes removed and pelvic wash both came back clear.
Cancer head is back big time ......anyone else have this come up?

I haven't had the problem you are going through now but I think that your Gyn is being cautious by doing the biopsy. I doubt that the cancer is back this soon since you were stage 1 grade one with negative nodes and pelvic wash. But I really know how you feel when it comes to cancer head! I have my 6 mo check this Wed. and I feel a little anxious about it. It's been three months since I finished Chemo but I still feel nervous about it! The cancer head thing is just a part of this and kind of hard to get past. Even when we know in our mind that everything is probably still ok, our emotions take over and think what if....
I hope that everything comes out fine with you and you just keep being NED! Please let us know what you find out.
Hugs and prayers!

 PaintDrawCook -
I am sorry to see cancerhead is messing with you.
Any time tissue is removed it is sent for pathology. So this is all standard procedure. Scaer and unnerving but normal.
Deep breathes.

Breathing! Thanks for the replies. Trying to just chill until I get the results. I know the pathology testing is precautionary, but, sometimes it just seems like this saga will not end.

Heart and Home,
Best wishes for an all clear on your 6 month check up. I hope all goes well.
My docs and the radiation/onc went back and forth on the radiation and chemo treatments, it's so hard to know what the best course of action is.
Thank you for your kind support!

Bleeding again last night and this morning. Waiting to call doc again, I'm supposed to get the biopsy results today but it looks like I'm in for another visit for the bleeding.

Oh Sweetie,
I am sorry to hear you are having these problems.
You have a physical job and started back on it rather early after surgery (no criticisim meant as I understand sometimes we have to) might explain the tear. I think your doctor is being cautious, as he should be, by sending the tissue for evaluation.
Cancerhead "plays" havoc with us whenever he can, and is worse early on but will get better as one heals and time moves on. Here's hoping you get excellent news re the path report and soonest and also get the bleeding problem cared for. I am sending you may postiive thoughts.

I had granulation too, and it was also treated with silver nitrate. I was told that this is a very common thing during recovery. So far all is well (coming up on 4 years)
I didn't have the bleeding, but I didn't have the radical either. I hope it all works out fine for you.

Re: Vaginal cuff tear granulation 12 1/2 weeks cancer recurrence so soon?
So...I had a second treatment with silver nitrate yesterday. Tear is beginning to close up but not all the way and granulation is better but doc says will require several more treatments. Definitly NOT fun, I know I've read that some ladies don't experience much discomfort but I'm not loving it, also the doc cut away some of the granulation yesterday and that hurt!
Good news is the biopsy came back clean! Doc says he will be repeating that at next visit though
Thanks for the support and well wishes.
