Re: Bone Density Scan
I had my first one set up the first time I went to GP after hysterectomy. She was well-versed in this area. I already has osteopenia at that first one. (Which surprised the heck out of me, since I've always been active, for the first 35 years of my life I drink 1/2 gallon of milk a day, never smoked, never drink etc.) So far, it hasn't gotten worse but I go this year for my test (I go every two years now so they can monitor it).
She also tested my Vitamin D at that time and found it low (in the 20's and optimum is 50-100). Went on Vitamin D then and have been on it since. Interestingly, the Vitamn D also helps my SAD in the winter.
For bones, I take calcium (1200), magnesium (chelated), and Vitamin D (3,000 in summer-5,000 in winter).
