Grade 3, Stage 1a...having big Cancer Head episodes

Hello,

As the title says, I was diagnosed with Grade 3, Stage 1a endometrial adenocarcinoma. Also, the pelvic wash was positive but I was told that that was probably due to the D&C that I had about 2 weeks before surgery. I have 3 sessions (one per week) of internal radiation therapy coming up at the end of August.

I was doing OK coping with the surgery and the diagnosis until I went to talk to the radiation doctor. I guess it just hit me then...I have cancer. Before that, I think I was more focused on having the surgery and recovering from that, now the focus has changed to combating the cancer. My doctor's have all said that the cancer was confined to the uterus and that the radiation is just precautionary, but sometimes I get really scared and weepy.

Anyhow, just glad to be able to vent here. Thanks for listening and Good Health to Everyone!!

Re: Grade 3, Stage 1a...having big Cancer Head episodes

Hi Merry,

I was also diagnosed with Endo cancer stage 1a grade 2 with a postive pelvic wash (also due to the D & C before surgery). I know exactly how you're feeling right now! I thought I was all done after my surgery, too. The cancer was contained in the uterus and I thought all i had to do was recover from the surgery. But when I went in for my final path report I found out about the postive pelvic wash and my Gyn/onc gave me the option of doing nothing or doing 3 rounds of Chemo.

I chose to do the chemo because I did'nt like the idea of having "floating cells" in there! I know the fear you feel right now. You'll make it through this! I never thought I could make it through Chemo-it really scared me at first. But I made it and I feel pretty well now. It's been 3 months since my last treatments. It's kind of hard to think about having cancer but we are survivors!

I send you a lot of prayer for peace and healing while you're waiting to start your radiation treatments, too!

Thanks for the support! It really helps to have people that have been through what you are going through to talk to. I think I will feel better once the radiation treatments are over.
My husband and I also are taking this as a wake up call. We are both overweight, not eating well, and not exercising. We have switched to a mostly vegan diet and have started walking. I think if I get more fit, my outlook will be better because I will just feel better generally.

Thanks again!!! Best Wishes to everyone here for excellent recoveries!!!
