Question - Should I wait to see Uro Gyno? Should I wait to see Uro Gyno?

I had a TAH on June 29th, 2012. Prior to surgery I had a prolapse and cystolcele. My uterus was bulging out of my vagina. Things went back up some with the hysterectomy. I am leaking urine and this morning when I woke up I partially peed on the way to the bathroom. I went for a post op visit today and the Gyn mentioned me going to a Uro. Should I go ahead and get a clear picture of the current status and ask for some pelvic floor excercises? Should I wait a while and see if things continue to improve? I had the uterus and cervix and fibroids taken out but no pelvic floor repairs.

Re: Should I wait to see Uro Gyno?

I am wondering WHY a doctor would do a hysterectomy and not repair your cystocele at the same time? Was this discussed?

Re: Should I wait to see Uro Gyno?

If the surgeon thought the hysterectomy would fix the prolapse they typically won't do the repair. Did your doctor mention what grade the prolapse is? Are you on vaginal estrogen cream to help build up the vaginal walls?

In answer to your question, I would see if I could get a referral to a urogyn.

Question - Should I wait to see Uro Gyno? Re: Should I wait to see Uro Gyno?

The doctor didn't address the prolapse ahead other then saying it might resolve after the Hysterectomy. She knew things were buldging out, I could not pee, was catheterized, had a cystocele and prolapse. She told me yesterday at the Post Op Appointment that she could not fix things because I was bleeding too much and she had to wrap things up around 5 hours. That makes sense. I am unaware of the current status. I do know I leak pee, I peed on the way to the bathroom yesterday and had to do a Kegel to get to the bathroom today. I don't want to over react but I underreacted before and got into a mess. The doctor kept insisting that it was ok to wait for Menopause and it was not ok.
