Surgery Set then a wait for the results

I have posted on this thread a few times. I am going to have a hysterectomy on the 20th. I am so scared. They told me they won't know results if its cancer or not till it goes to pathology. So anyways, I'm glad everyone suggested that i have a 2nd opnion. I did just that. How long does it usal take to get back results from surgery? happens if u do have cancer? Keep me in your prayers

my thoughts and prayers are with you

I had a total hystercomy on 4-11-12 since it was discovered I had cancer of the linging--talk about begin scared
I was lucky though since it was caught so very early I needed no other treatments after!!
I was a total basketcase--but I have to admit the surgery and recovery went great!!!

I was alittle sore and tired for maybe about a week I was back to driving at 2 weeks back to work at 6 weeks with 5 hours a day limit for 3 weeks--that was nice--I got out at 11 or12 and went home had lunch and a nap!!!

please let us know how things went

we're all here for you

Re: Surgery Set then a wait for the results

Please know my payers are with you. Of course you hav fears if our doctor has said there is a possibility of cancer. What type of doctor is doing your surgery? Will a GYN/ONC surgeon be present? As far as time goes, a week to 10 days was my wait for pathology reports on both my surgeries. The first one went by fast because I was no waitig on it. Cancer was a shock for me and the GYN. The second wait was a lot harder on me because I already knew I had cancer and was worried about spread. Wha type of caner do they suspect? Do you know?

Re: Surgery Set then a wait for the results

When you go for your pre op visit with the surgeon ask what they suspect and if a gyn/oncologist will be assisting. If the answer is no then your GYN may not be as concerned as you think. There is no way to figure it all out before hand....no amount of worrying will give you answers either. Ask as many questions as you can think of at our pre op appt. It will ease your mind!

Re: Surgery Set then a wait for the results

I was wondering if you've had a biopsy or a D & C ? Does your Gyn already suspect cancer? I think that other things could cause spotting, too. I already knew I had endo cancer before my surgery from the D & C. I knew it was Grade 2 but not the stage. I got my Path report back at my 2 week check-up and found out it was Stage 1a.

I hope that yours comes out with a good dx with no cancer! I'm praying for peace and healing for you! And that you will feel the comfort of God and have no fear as you go into surgery, too!

Re: Surgery Set then a wait for the results

faithbyhishand, best of luck to you. I had a D&C and the surgeon told me she was pretty sure it was cancer, confirmed by the pathology. I got that path report about a week later, and the path report with the stage a week after the hysterectomy.

Praying for you!
