What Causes This Pinching Pain?

I tried searching threads for pain that pinches, but most everything has to do with post-op. I've had an awful pinching pain, as if there are pliers being used inside me clamping together, generally in my ovary area, both sides, and what feels like upper cervix. It comes and goes and hits different regions seemingly randomly. This has gone on for years, as have my other issues (menorrhagia, clots, etc.). I was recently given a fibroids and polyps dx, but wonder why all this pinching. It happens every day (now that I'm actually paying attention and not trying to ignore it in order to cope). It's way beyond uncomfortable at times and can come on suddenly and make me jump. Do fibroids cause this?

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

Discuss this with your doctor, but it possibly could be your nerves. My uterus was so enlarged from fibroids and adenomyosis that I used to have pinching feelings as well as pains shooting down my legs. My doc said probably my uterus was pushing on a nerve and causing it. After my hysterectomy this all stopped, so not really sure what it was. Good luck as you search for answers!

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

Thanks, Cathy. I talked with the dr today and she's chalking it up to one of the fibroids that's pedunculated. Hopefully surgery will stop it, as it did for you!

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

I have this also. Totally random--I can be fine one minute and the next there it is--and varying degrees of pain. One time it will be on the left, the next time on the right. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, sometimes a little worse and sometimes nearly unbearable (like labor pains). I had a D&C and several polyps removed in April, and an ablation and diagnostic lap at the end of June (no endo), both for heavy bleeding causing severe anemia. No fibroids or cysts were found. I'm pretty sure my doctor at this point thinks I'm a hypochondriac or out of my mind, and I've pretty much given up trying to figure it out, whether on my own or with her help. From what I've read in months spent researching, pedunculated fibroid makes sense. I hope your surgery takes care of ALL your issues, and please keep us posted. Sending good thoughts your way!

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

Hey Taureanne!! I must tell you that I am having the same pain. my doctor told me that all of my pain was caused by the endometriosis. This is something that you definately need to speak with them about. I pray that all will be well with you! God Bless!!!!

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

Thanks much, ReganCassidy (nope, I don't think for a second you're a hypochondriac!) and Shay-ShayB. Hopefully we ALL will have this stuff sorted out soon for all of us. I've thought of endo, also. Hmm. We'll see, waaaaay off in late Oct. when I have surgery. Prayers and good thoughts to both of you! We will get through this!

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

Hi ladies, I am new. So glad I read "pinching" pain. That's it. I got it all over randomly. Had ablation a year ago, Dr. said it failed. Got fibroid. Growing over a year now. Get another ultrasound tomorrow !! See Dr. for Hyster talk. Scared, excited, so sick of complaining, analyzing, goggleing medical words, ug....tired of it all. 43 years. Old. feel 60. I want to feel better.

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

i have similar pinching types pain. I have been suffering with awful fibroid pain since i got pregnant in 2009. The pain is now worse in my leg and hip then ever before. I can hardly walk at times. My doc says it is because my fibroid is pedunculated so so I have a hysterectomy scheduled for sept 12th.My biggest fear is that the pain wont go away and maybe something else is wrong.

Re: What Causes This Pinching Pain?

I am 7 months into menopause with history of extensive endometriosis and various surgeries to remove tubes one by one and lap and hysteroscopy which found I was riddled with endometriosis and adhesions! Now I am not ovulating the hope is my oestrogen levels are dropping like a stone (hence not feeding the endometriosis) yet I still get this right sided deep pinching pain in my hip/groin which is worse when I sit, worse in the morning as pain wakes me and pain around belly button where they found lots of endo and adhesions. Once I've visited the bathroom it slightly lessens. This I am convinced is because of adhesions (scar tissue formation). If you think about it wherever you have had surgery even lap surgery which is minimal it creates inflammation and inflammation creates scar tissue. Some like me are more prone to it's formation and it can cause havoc! So when my bladder and bowel is full ie first thing in the morning it causes the filmy adhesions (like wet spagetti being sticky) to adhere and pull and pinch. Adhesions are often forgotten when talking about endometriosis or any pelvic surgery for that matter but each surgery makes them worse. That is why surgeons are these days trying to avoid pelvic surgery where possible and start with Zoladex injections to send women into menopause artifically so oestrogen drops and hopefully endo is starved! If you have had loads of invasive surgery there is a fairly good chance adhesions are sticking organs together and causing pinching and pulling!
