Had my DaVinci on 8/7 at 4:00 pm and all has been going well with just the occasional ibuprofen. Good thing and not just for me....two sisters may be facing the same choice--guess I was the guinea pig.

Time to talk about feeling of losing bits. It doesn't affect me emotionally as I was happy to depart with them ( in my case uterus, cervix and tubes) but I confess that I feel a bit weirded out that all those bits are no longer there.

Hi sisters, I had my Davinci on Aug. 8 at 8:30am. Dr removed my uterus and tubes. He installed a mesh and a suburethal sling. It took him about 31/2 to 4 hours. Then, the second surgen came in and did a breast lift and augmentation. So I woke up about 4:00 in recovery. Had a hard time speaking and was very thirsty. I don't remember what painkiller they gave me but worked very well.
That night at 12:30 I called for nurse because I was ready to try to walk. At 12:45 I called again because it felt like my bladder was full. At 1:05 I called again and said send anybody now. Nurses aid came and tried to straighten out the catheter and bag but it didn't help. Nurse came and calmed me down because I was pretty out of sorts. I got up and walked and that seemed to help. That was definitely the worst part.
Went for second walk at 5:30am. Next morning first surgeon's fellow came and removed catheter and packing. Delighted to pee! Went for third walk, a long one this time. By now it's 8:00am and I don't have to wear those blow up boots anymore. So annoying! Second surgeon came and changed dressing on the upper rack. All looks good! IV came out. Had a little breakfast and waited for first surgen to check me out. Left hospital at 12:30. Getting lots of rest and feeling better by the moment. Thank you to all who post. It's been quite an education.

TeaLeaf - I had a similar problem during my recovery. My belly button incision was right at the opening. This is the only one that bothered me. My doctor told me it was most likely from a nerve. She said that is where the camera goes is and the incision is bigger and the skin is a lot thicker there. It really bothered me for a couple weeks and then it was twingy on and off during the rest of my recovery. I still get a twinge there ever now and then but its not painful.

All they needed to hear was "surgery" and "fever" and I was taken right in. The dr I saw thought I had an infection going on somewhere so they started bloodwork, urine testing, and a ct scan w/contrast. After everything was done, the dr told me the ct scan showed nothing remarkable other than some free fluid in my abdomen. However..where my white blood cells were "beautiful" on my bloodwork, my blood count was only 22..down from 40 last Thursday at my pre-ops. I just finished having my second unit of blood being transfused. My dr doesn't know what happened, I essentially lost half my blood. They are convinced that I'm not bleeding internally. My dr thinks maybe the heparin shots had something to do with it...I just happened to see the anesthesiologist who did my surgery and he said he had a few ideas to talk about with my dr. He's on call this weekend here so I'm hoping to go home tomorrow. I miss my family and I hate being here. I started crying earlier..I really want to go home. My roommate is diabetic and has been vomiting, the sound gives me anxiety so there goes any sleep. I can't stop tearing up.
Oh Soxlovah! I am so sorry! I'm glad you decided to go to the ER. I hope you start to feel better soon and can go home soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

katakacpk - I struggled with those thoughts before my surgery, too. I had an issue with my bits defining who I was as a woman and that losing them would make me less than a woman. I talked to a friend that is a social worker and she helped me immensely. Then right after the surgery I was weirded out about what was in that big empty space in there. I think a lot of it was the fear and anxiety of surgery since I had never had surgery before. Now that I longer had to deal with the endless bleeding and pain I didn't even think twice about it. It was the best decision I ever made.

Hi TeaLeaf. I'm so glad I came across your post. I am 10 days post op. I had a TAH on July 31. The minute I woke up in my hospital room I had the same burning pulling pain on my left inside area. I have a bikini cut with inside disposable stitches. I am assuming the burning/pulling is from the stitches since that is the side my dr started stitching on (I have a string sticking out on the right side). So maybe you have a stitch pulling or irritating a nerve too. But being 10 days post op I still have that burning/pulling pain. The pain has eased up a little. I just wanted you to be aware so as not to worry too much. I'm hoping it subsides soon.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you. Just remember to take it easy.

TVH on 8-9. Finally passed gas this morning! Still waiting on the elusive BM. Still taking Percocet, but only in half doses so I don't feel as out of it. Wondering if the Percocet is contributing to the lack of BM. I certainly have enough noise going on down there.

Hi
I had my Divinci Surgery Aug 8th around 8:30am. I was outof surgery by 11:15. I had my uterus, cervix and left ovary (rt one removed during previous surgery) tubes and all that nonsense taken out. I am empty now. I had a second surgeon do another procedure cannot remember the name of it but they removed the nerves attached to my female parts due to endometriosis and pain, hoping this will cure me of pain for good. I woke in recoery around 130, takes me a long time to come out o anesthesia. and was in a room by 2. Still out of sorts, one of the dr's that assisted came in at 5 to tell me that if i got up to urinate that i could go home. I was blown away! Anyhow, I did so and went on my way by 6:15. Came home and was in a bit of pain. the ride home with the jiggling around was quite uncomfortable. But Thursday was definately better. He put me on hydrocodone which made me pretty loopy but wasnt touching tha pain. So i wa instructed to take 800mg motrin as well. I was quite light headed and passed out in my boyfriends arms! Things got better as the day went on. yesterday I had visitors and was up andmoving around even more. Today I feel like a totally different person. Moving a bit faster, Not really taking pain pills, Incisions starting to itch. gas pains to a minimum. Still no bowel movements or appetite tho.... which from what I am reading is normal. My only concern is the hormone thing. I cried twice yesterday over silly things... is this normal? Hope everyone is doing well! Really enjoying toread everyones posts and know that we are not alone!
