Wow! So far it seems all you ladies are doing rather well! That's wonderful! For those of you having pain, remember to take your meds faithfully. If you don't take them as directed it is much harder to get the pain back under control again.

Soxlovah - I'm sorry you had such a mean nurse. Definitely report her.

Pingaa - My surgery was relatively pain free as well. I still kick myself daily for not doing it 5-6 years ago. And I agree with the price of surgery being even with all the tampons, pads, clothes, missed or ruined nights out, vacations, etc. Life on the other side is so much better!

Hang in there ladies! You are on your way to a much better quality of life.

Had my Divinci procedure done at 10:30 this morning. I was a total nervous wreck. I get to stay over tonight and if all goes well will go home tomorrow sometime. I'm sore but not too bad. Got up and did a couple of laps around the hall. So far so good!

Oh and my swollen tonsil was not an issue since I did not have a fever.

Sus5N - I'm sorry you don't feel well. You should call your doctor and let him or her know. Did you check to see if you have a fever? You have to be careful of infection at this stage. It looks like you had both ovaries removed. Did they start you on hormone therapy at the castle? Sorry I can't really offer much help in that department. I kept both of my ovaries and was freezing all the time. Please check with your doctor just to be safe. You only get one chance to heal right. I hope you feel better soon.

I an two days post op. some challenges were urinating on my own so I had to be recatheterized. The morphine right after did not prevent all pain, and the gas pain and swelling belly were significantly altering my mood yesterday. I am able to sleep if I sit up right because then I don't have a big gas bubbles if I try to lay down flat I get the gas and then I have to Pee, a real urgent need to Pee just a few drops. I'm going to take a laxative soon because I know I am prone to constipation anyway, so I am going to do my best to get things moving

Raven - I've checked my temp, cause I was aware that it might be an infection, but it's normal. No ERT yet. I hadn't had a period since January, so I thought maybe I'd skip all this and I certainly didn't expect it so soon.

I'm glad there is no fever! I just started recently with the nightsweats and hot flashes. I completely understand how miserable it feels. It has to be even worse just having surgery. I find keeping the a/c on "snow" helps alot. Good luck!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 06-Aug 12,2012

Had my daVinci supracervical hysterectomy yesterday, surgery began at 6:30 a.m and took 3 hours. My posterior fibroid had grown to 14 cm and my uterus was enlarged to the size of a 15 wk pregnancy. My wonderful GYN surgeon said everything went smoothly. He also found a cyst on one of my ovaries the size of a chicken egg which was removed. My ovaries are otherwise healthy and I was able to keep them. I'm still "at the castle" and am scheduled to check out in a couple of hours. I feel like my worries and second guessing about whether or not I should have done this have been put to rest. My doctor said if I had waited another 6 months or a year to have this done, the fibroid would have likely been too large to remove laparascopically and would have required an open abdominal incision. So glad I didn't wait any longer!

Am feeling super sore in the abdominal area, like I've done a couple hundred sit ups. I've been able to pee twice today so that's going well. So far so good!
