So thankful I get the room to myself. Still have not farted. Lots of burps. Tv on my side of room is broken but since I am alone they will turn the other one on to listen to. Also thankful my phone charger reaches to the bed.

shamcd - Don't be sad You are only 3 days out of major surgery. There are a lot of factors involving recovery. Some heal faster than others and it also depends on the amount of work your doctor did inside as well. We all heal at our own pace.
I believe that davinci, while a wonderful surgery, is falsely advertised as a miracle surgery that will have you up and on your feet the next day. Yes, it is less invasive but it is still just as major a surgery as having an abdominal cut. The work done on the inside is the same. One of the women on my recovery group had her doctor tell her she would be able to go back to work the next morning.
I had davinci, too. I was one of the very few woman that was back on their feet in a week but only to a point. This is not the norm. Since I had my surgery in February, I have only encountered a few other women out of hundreds that were like me. I did go back to work on day 8 for a few hours/3 days a week. Even though I have a desk job, I was still uncomfortable, driving in the car was painful at times, I still couldn't cook, clean, bend or lift anything. You still have to follow the 6-8 week rules. I did have a few minor infections and bladder and bleeding issues, too.
Try not to rush things. You will get there. It is not a race to the finish. You only get one chance to heal right so listen to your body. Every day gets better and better. Enjoy your recovery time and being a princess.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 06-Aug 12,2012
Had my surgery yesterday. Was in a lot of pain last night, and couldnt sleep! They had me on morphine AND Vicodin. I am now catheter free and just tried to eat breakfast. I'm feeling much better today. I'm only on the Vicodin now. They got me up and into a chair yesterday and I'm assuming that they will have me walk sometime before they let me go home. I'm ready to go home and lay in my own bed!! So far so good. We will see how the day goes

I had my surgery Tuesday morning and like pipa, I have no appetite. Ordered food in the hospital and ate a bite or two. Now I am home and have to force myself to eat even a little soup.
My pain is pretty well managed still, but my arms are killing me from pushing myself up and down!! Hopefully when this is all over they will be toned! Those are my only complaints- TAH much better experience than I expected!

Pingaa- just a quick tid bit, a natural reliever for nausea is peppermint. Pick up some of those soft puppy peppermints (candycanes) or other soft things. "Ginger" found in natural foods stores will help with nausea....Also Gingerale soda as well as sprit. Hope your feeling better.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 06-Aug 12,2012
Well it's now Friday,
I'vebeen home less than 24 hrs....I got up and let my little baby (pugs) outside...thankfully they come back after doing their business.
I'm thinking that the blood in my urine is stopping...(most likely from the heprin that they were injecting into my abdomin..I have a history of blood clots so I was a real high risk).
I am having some gas, but I was told that was expected.
I'm sleeping in my own bed and I slept until 9:00 am! Whew I'm can't beleive it, but did get cramping when I did walk up around the house, so I took some motrin.
I"m new on the board, so I don't know if anyone would like some pain medication information (note I am not in any medical field, just a disabled vet who has been on chronic pain management and I have been on all of these perscribed mediations)
Vicodin is a combination of acetaminophine, codeine and thebaine (the codeine and thebaine makes the hydrocodine).
Percocets is a combination of acetaminophine and oxycodone. The oxycodone and morphine are in the same class of medication, but not the same meds.
(I hope I wasn't inappopriate when posting this information, Ijust thought with the mention of the meds and with soe questions one might like to know the answers to them.)
One thing that my doctor suggested was to take the medication for break through pain before you do something, such as walking and it should help with the discomfort. As for me, I will start with my lowest doseage, which is the 800mgs of motrin for breakthrough and move to the percocet after the activity.
I'm planningon returing to my part time job on Monday.
Hope eveyrone has a greatday.
Karrie

I also didn't have the appetite for any food, but typcially as a requirement, I ate a couple bits of the food so I could go home....there is no place like home and home cooking to make us feel any better.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 06-Aug 12,2012
Hello ladies! I had my surgery on the 7th, it was supposed to be vaginally but my fibroids and uterus were so huge it ended up being abdominally. I don't remember anything until I ended up in my hospital room after recovery. They had me on a morphine pain pump the rest of that day and night, the morning of the 8th I was taken off the pump and put on percocet pills. I started peeing that morning, and was progressing so well I got sent home bright and early yesterday morning! I laid in bed all afternoon and discovered that is not the most comfortable place, so I ended up sleeping in my husband's lazy boy chair in the den which worked wonderfully. I'm looking forward to my daughter coming home this afternoon, she has spent the week with my dad and step mom. She's 10 so she'll be able to help out quite a bit around the house. I have my follow up on Monday where I will get my path report from my GYN. She also said I could drive there if I felt up to it but not quite sure I'm ready for that yet....
