Interstitial Cystitis

I had a hysterectomy on March 21, 2012. I had massive abdominal pain that followed my cycle to the point of being in the ER every ovulation or period. I just found out I also have interstitial cystitis. The doc thinks I have had this for years. I have been in pain ever since the hysterectomy. The only thing found when I had the hysterectomy was tons of ovarian cysts up to 1.5 mm in size. Now, I am wondering if I had the hysterectomy for no reason. I am still in pain everyday. I cannot start hormones until I quit smoking, which is so hard to do with all the pain I am in. I have been following the IC diet and I am still hurting. I go back to the urologists on the 14th. He just did the cystocopy last week. He told my husband I definitely had IC and probably had it for years. How do you deal with the pain of IC??

Re: Interstitial Cystitis

I think that i have ic also. My pain began in may, none previously. Gyno said bladder & uterine prolapse that needed hysterectomy. He also gave me vesicare to see if it helped bladder. My pain is almost gone! Might not need surgery! Hope my story will help someone. I might still need surgery at some point, but this medicine really helps me. I used to pee all night. Before my period, the pain was horrid. I am getting to that time now, & it isn't hurting much at all. Good luck to you!

Interstitial Cystitis

I also have ic. And endo. I had my cervix removed because it was full of endo. My dr thought I had ic at that time and tested me. At my 12 week check up it hurt so bad to get checked. I'm not sure it it was from the cervix removal not healed yet or my bladder I had 6 weeks of bladder instillation. I also take elmiron. I was also prescribed. Elvail at bedtime to help with pain. It sucks
