Spotting after ablation, and other things
I have undergone an ablation, liproscopic diagnostic for endo research (found none, praises)! And also a complete tubal. This was done on 26th. Will be two weeks this Thursday. I have been having spotting the last few days. Light very very pale pink at first..now more..milky substance and a little darker..but still not what I would say my actual period returning...or at least I pray not. When I went in for surgery I was bleeding very, very heavily. I'm somewhat concerned of what is normal as far as spotting. I have heard women say no spitting with ablation at all for them..However I do keep reminding myself, these women didn't have the other two procedures as well. Just needing a little reassurance or related story. Sorry if I am not on the correct forum..lots of choices lol. Also...I'm crying over everything and taking everything to heart that would have normally just blew over. My follow up appt is this Monday. If at all possible, from those of you who have had similar issues and know that the road may lead to...some questions for me to ask my doctor other than the "is this normal, and how long do I expect it" I love this site, and am so thankful for you all! God Bless!

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
Hi there!
I'm so sorry that you are going through these issues. I had an ablation done. I don't remember any spotting, but I do remember that it made my cramps much worse, hence the hyst i needed.
I wanted to respond so that I can bump you up to the top to see if someone else can respond who has had similar issues. You are in my prayers!
Hugs,
Suzy

Spotting after ablation, and other things
Thanks for responding and bumping me back to top..I am laying in bed in tears bc of cramps. They're worse than they ever were! I was told that my bowels were heavily impacted also. Have been doing all I can for this as well..so am unsure if it's trapped gas pains, cramps, whatever it is...it's the third night, surgery a touch over two weeks ago and I am very, very miserable

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I haven't been through an ablation, but definitely have heard from others they've had spotting after and pain. I'm sure you're staying very hydrated as you're dealing with the gas/bowel issues. That could cause a lot of pain. I havent gone through it, but you sounded so miserable and sad, so just wanted to respond and let you know spotting and pain can happen, but please contact your dr for some answers. Oh! Just re-read your post that you're going Monday for appt. Im sure you can search the site here for ablation and get some good ideas of questions to ask. Also sending hugs and praying you'll be doing much better soon! Let us know.

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
Oh...you poor thing! I was exactly were you are. My cramps were sooooo much worse after the ablation. I couldn't believe it. I took Naproxen 550mg twice a day to help with the cramps. I still had cramps, but they were tolerable with the Naproxen. I had the ablation done Sept 2010 then had the hyst Feb 2011. I wanted to see if the cramps would get better. It got a little better, but still worse than before the ablation. Ablations work for some women, but not all.
I read a ton of responses from women on other websites regarding their ablation. A lot of them also had issues with their bowels. This should subside in time. If you are heavily impacted, I would do warm prune juice. This worked incredibly well for me. I had 1 glass then I had another glass after an hour as nothing was moving. Drink lots of water. Eat high fiber foods. Walking helps too.
You should call your doctors office tonight and speak with the doctor on call. Don't wait till the morning. You should have to be in pain all night. Talk to them about getting you something strong to help you for a few days, then on Monday I would make an appointment with your doctor.
I know it feels miserable right now, but it does get better. Please let me know how you make out. Praying for you!

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
Sorry...I meant you should NOT be in pain all night. Also, I forgot to mention that if you think gas may be an issue, Gas-X worked great for me. When you see your do Monday I would definitely mention Naproxen.

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
I am so sorry that you are in so much pain! I had an ablation in May 2011. They also did a cone biopsy/leep procedure. I had nasty greyish-black discharge that smelled like burnt flesh for about 8 weeks post op. I was told the discharge was normal with leep, they burn off the pre-cancerous cells. Please dont wait until Monday if you are in so much pain! If you are not comfortable calling your dr maybe go to urgent care or the ER. I hope you find some relief soon and please keep us updated!

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
Thank you ladies so much! I was pretty sad and miserable last night/this morning. Up and down back and forth. Laying in diff positions, trying hearing pad vs no. I didn't get to sleep until past 4am have a fun weekend planned and truly want to move past this junk. I just feel very discouraged, praying that the ablation still works, but also realizing I would have been nearly completely recouped from Hyster (if done liproscopically) wishing I would have taken that route. I appreciate you all so very much!!! Please stay with me, talk me thru this lol

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
We are here for you! How are you feeling this morning? Don't worry about taking the ablation route. I did it because it was less invasive. It didn't work so I did the hyst. Everything happens for a reason. Were you able to call your doc or go to the ER this morning?

Re: Spotting after ablation, and other things
I already did the ablation..I guess it's the reason for all the pain and spotting. The spotting seems more like having my period again than healing. I am a little better today. Am out I'd town to watch others run a 5k that I was supposed to be part of, of course I still can't bc of these issues. I'm do glad that you all are here and truly lend a crying shoulder. I've been doing that a lot lately as well
