4 months post-op new issues
I'm almost 4 months post-op and have had a pretty uneventful recovery. I was back to work and exercising after 10 days.
I have maintained a healthy diet, count calories, exercise almost daily...but have not lost 1lb. I saw my primary doctor and he just said I don't know what to tell you. I had my thyroid tested but is was normal. I have an appt. with a nutritionist but I'm not holding out much hope she'll have a clue either.
Is it normal to be completely metabolically stunted for this long after surgery?
Also, My hormones were back to normal at 2 or 3 weeks after surgery. And now out of nowhere, the night sweats/hot flashes/mood swings and fatigue/insomnia are back. Last night I lay in bed forever trying to fall asleep after barely being able to say awake during the day. Once I fall asleep, I wake back up.
Is it normal to be fine hormonally for 3 months and then not fine?

Re: 4 months post-op new issues
I don't have an answer to your question. I just have more questions. I am about 4 1/2 months post-op and feel that I am well recovered. But my emotions are much more volatile and sensitive than in the past. I didn't worry so much the first few weeks post-op, when I would burst into tears just from being tired. But now, I feel pretty stable most of the time, but some things seem to trigger tears very easily. A slght bit of criticism from my hubby (and he is not a very critical person) and I seem to take a little thing totally out of proportion and break down in tears. Or he might say something that is meant to be a discussion about some simple idea for improving the house or yard, and I take interpret is as criticism when it really isn't, and react emotionally very strongly. This is not the way I was before surgery.
For those of you who are farther out there past surgery, are these sorts of problems - the weight loss issue from Shutterbug, or the emotional issues I have, typical? Will they go away with time?

Since you removed both ovaries, are you on HRT? If so, maybe it needs adjusting. I worry that my ovaries have just given up after seemingly working for a couple months.

Re: 4 months post-op new issues
I am 8 months out...& I too cannot drop any weight despite eating "clean" and going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I am taking HRT .045 Premarin. It has helped with the mood swings, hot flashes etc. I feel like I have my life back since surgery. No more pain! It's those pesky 10 extra pounds that don't want to go away . I'm thinking the HRT is getting in the way of weight loss.

Re: 4 months post-op new issues
No I'm not on HRT. I guess I sort of assumed that since I was post-menopausal that I wouldn't need it. I should talk to my gynecologist about it. Since I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer pre-surgery, I go in every 3 months for a pap test to check for recurrence, so I can check with her when I see her in September.
