Now have my date!

My Dr called last week while I was on vacation, tried to schedule my hyster for Oct 1st, but had to tell them that is the only week I can't take off. My manager will be at the annual company conference that week and we can't have 2 supervisors off the same week. The nurse started to get snippy with me, I simply told her if you put my chart on her desk, she will be okay with the 8th, the nurse was skeptical. She called me back less than an hour later and said cheerfully the 8th is fine with the Dr

Now have my date!

Mine scheduled for Oct. 1st. I have a few masses in my stomach. I also have endometriosis. I stopped having periods about 8 yrs do to PCOS. I still build a uterus lining so I take provera every 3 month's to start my period. My periods cause me extreme pain. The mass swells and causes extreme pain. My uterus has moved off to the left. That is why I'm having a hysterectomy. Why are you having one? Do you plan to keep your overies? Doctor says he will keep them if he can. What do you all think about keeping overies when you have PCOS?

Now have my date!

I don't really know anything about PCOS, but I would definitly start a topic about keeping or removing the with PCOS. I do know that a hysterectomy may not cure endometriosis without the hands a very skilled surgeon that specializes with endo, there is a lot of information on this website for endo.

I myself have prolapse of the uterus and bladder(cystocele) and suspected adenomyosis. I've struggled with evil 10 day periods since I was 11. I also have recently developed problems with my bowels having a mind of their own that seems to change with the lowering and raising of my uterus throughout my cycles. I also have severe pain during "hubby time" which has all just really become unbearable.
I hope to keep my ovaries as I am only 32, but they may have to go if my Dr can't save them, but they will take probably everything else.

I've seen so many different reasons women make it to this decision, but together I think we can get through this a little easier. Just having support from other's who definitly understand helps.

HUGS to you.

Now have my date!

Thanks. I talked to my family doctor today. She has been my doctor for 12 yrs or so now. She knows all about my struggles. I asked her if she thought hysterectomy is my best option and she said yes. She thinks the gynecologist she take it all though. IDK yet

Now have my date!

My surgery isn't until Oct 23rd, first available date in a large city's med center. I've had gyn problems since it all started as a kid. The past 10 yrs or so have been bad, with lots of pain and heavy, long periods. They originally planned on TVH, but my uterus is too large, so it'll be abdominal, hopefully horizontal along where I had an emergency laparotomy when in my late teens for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. I have multiple fibroids, including at least one pedunculated, polyps and who knows what. Hoping they can keep ovaries, depending on what they see. Waiting so long is tough! I'm ready now. Best to both of you, and glad you were able to change it to the 8th, youngzebra. And AmanDita, hope this surgery finally gives you some relief.
