That is what I am thinking since I have only been able to belch thus far. I hope to be able to pass gas soon since my stomach is hurting from the pressure. Nurses told me not to take gas x since it gives you a false relief.

I would leave it on Grace, even though it looks gross. Better safe than sorry. I am leaving mine on until tomorrow but they have all seeped and look majorly gross. The doc told me 24 hours after I got home then remove it. Hope everything works out for you all. God bless

I also had some pain up under my right ribs initially that radiated through my shoulder to the shoulder blade during the first night. My surgeon told me it's common if you have any type of laproscopic abdominal surgery and has to do with the gas they inflate you with to do the procedure. Gas-x type things won't do anything for it, nor can you burp it out. It just has to dissipate on it's own and movement helps. Mine actually went away quite suddenly in the middle of the first night but I was told it can hang on for a few days.

I had surgery on mon. And just now started to pass gas today and kind of have the runs. So it just takes time I guess. I though I was feeling so good and didn't need pain med. wrong... I need to stay on them, I'm hurting now. Oh well

Remember you just had major surgery. Initial recovery takes 2/4 to 6/8 weeks and full recovery takes 6 to 12 months.

Check out the hysterectomy checkpoints for weeks 1 & 2.

I have never wanted to pass gas so badly in my life, my family has been immensely attentive and helpful. I wouldn't stop taking pain meds right now either, your body needs to heal and if your in pain it makes it harder for you to do that. I will pray for you and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Yeah I kinda figured it was gas, that is the worse part of the surgery in my opinion. I just feel so disconnected from my body. I know it will get better it just doesn't feel like it at the moment.

Does anyone else have a sore throat? About 2 hours ago my throat started to hurt and it has only gotten worse.

I also cannot pass gas. I can burp but no gas. I have been walking but nothing so far. It is frustrating because I my doc said I would be able to eat solid food when I pass gas. I have not had solid food sense Sunday and am so hungry I could cry.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 13-Aug 19,2012

Good Morning Ladies!
First, I must say that God has a great sense of humor, as he gave me my last menstrual cycle a few days prior to my surgery. What my hubby and I were hoping would be our "final" weekend together just couldn't happen. My poor hubby... his six weeks without has just turned into 7 weeks :-(

My surgery was Monday, Aug 13 -- scheduled for 10:15 to begin pre-op stuff. Was wheeled into the operating room around 11:45am. Procedure started approx 30 minutes after entering the OR. The doctor performed a LSH, used mesh to attach my vaginal wall to my sacrum, bladder sling and rectocele repairs. Surgery took a little more than 5 hours and my recovery took longer than they expected. Pain was about a 6/7 and I was very dizzy and nauseous. The breathing tube gave me a blister on the inside of my mouth (ouch!). I wanted to sleep and they kept waking me up asking the same questions over and over again. By the time they brought me to my room, I was starving yet had no appetite. 4 days later and I still don't have an appetite. The pain is constant yet getting better. Still no bowel movement and I'm a bit nervous about having one considering I'm stitched together down there. My belly is bloated and swollen and I've been informed this will slowly subside as i walk more and more.

I had the sore throat also. This was from the breathing tube. I just kept drinking water and apple juice which helped a lot. I still feel like there's something lodged in my throat, however the pain is gone. My belly is still full of gas which I hope will go away soon. I hate the feeling! Surprised your doc won't let you eat. Have they listened to your bowel to make sure it's waking up from the anesthesia? It seems that would be the only reason to not let you eat. Best of luck to you :-)
