This doesn't make sense to me...please help.

I'm scheduled for a laser laparoscopy in September to see if my endo is back (suspect that it is) and remove it as well as my remaining ovary possibly. In the meantime, while I'm waiting, my doctor put me on the birth control pill to "suppress my ovary". He said that would help him decide whether or not to remove it. I don't really understand this. Also, won't the estrogen in the pill make any endo adhesions worse? Aside from becoming a total witch, very irratible and sad for no reason, I feel like my pain has gotten worse. It used to be only bad about a week out of each month (I'm guessing that would be around the time I'd have a period, if I had the parts), but now it's more constant, almost every day, and seems like a deeper pain. I have put off going back to the doctor because I hate going, and I'm afraid he'll just give me a different pill to try. Maybe that is a good option....I don't know. Really i just want to stop taking the pill all together and get back to being my happy, even keel self. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Without knowing which pill you are on, I can't totally answer your question. Some are progestin/progesterone only and some are a combination of estrogen and progestin. The purpose is basically to prevent the ovaries from ovulating and thus decrease the amount of estrogen in your body. If you do well with the pill, you could avoid surgery.

The amount of estrogen in the bcp would be less than you would produce naturally. Also, endometriosis and adhesions are two different things and the bcp wouldn't affect the adhesions. Adhesions are scar tissue that has formed between tissues and/or organs. Having endometriosis does set up an environment for adhesions so many of us with endometriosis also have adhesions, especially if we have also had surgery which also allows for the formation of adhesions.

You may need a different pill. The one you are using may not agree with you and/or the hormone levels are creating your symptoms. A different pill could change your hormone levels to a more balanced one for you. Are you on a combination pill or progestin only pill?

Do touch base with your and in there!
