The DRYNESS is killing me!
I'm sure this has been addressed numerous times, it may be deeper in the topics then I've looked. On my 1 year post op TAH check up, my doc asked about my sex life (it was always a normal exam question). I just shook my head and said it is incredibly painful. He prescribed Femring, which helped with the tissue dryness a little..When it stopped helping I tried so many other lubes, another doc suggested Silicone based..They all work to a certain extent, but its just not the same for so many reasons. There is no more spontaneity. Having to prep for sex just makes me feel ridiculous. Even after all the prep, it still hurts. So I (we) avoid penetration, (outercourse has it's moments), but I really need the intimacy of intercourse and so does my husband who has been very understanding all these yrs.
Our sex life prior to the hyster was great. I've had this problem with vaginal dryness for many years (surgery was 2003)..I also do think that I have vaginismus now b/c even after prep and he's ready to go, I am quietly in a panic. I could go on and on and I'm sure you've all heard it before, there has got to be something I can do to fix the dryness..Is it really true "use it or lose it". How can you use it when it hurts so bad? Help!

Re: The DRYNESS is killing me!
I have found that Premarin vaginal cream 2x week makes all the difference in the world. No more dryness or discomfort. Ask your doctor about vaginal cream.

Re: The DRYNESS is killing me!
Second on the Premarin cream! I was also on Estratest (or Syntest as finances got tighter). It was amazing!
Now that I have no insurance and can't afford to see "Doctor #1" anymore, and only have charity care through the county hospital and associated clinics, I am no longer on anything. "County Doc" won't put me on anything at all, won't listen to me, I can't get into a GYN through this system as I'm postmenopausal now and the system apparently thinks I don't need a GYN and now I have everything that Sadie describes.
Further, since I don't qualify for Medicaid or anything else, I have no option but to deal with the system.
But Sadie, when I was on Estratest, it was incredible! I felt just as 'amorous' as I did pre-op, and the Premarin cream in the mornings worked great. I could enjoy myself in the evenings with plenty of spontaneity. I think the little bit of testosterone (T) was the key in my case. But now that I have nothing at all, I can fully share in your feelings (or lack thereof?)... (((hug))).
Has your doctor ever brought up the idea of adding in a bit of T, either as an additional medication or as Estratest/Syntest? It hasn't turned me into a muscle-bound Hulkette or anything while I was on it... it did help a lot with libido and with my cycling and other fitness training, as I didn't find myself losing any shape. It just kept me as energetic as I was before I had my surgery, rather than getting "the lazies", that sluggish, less-than-motivated feeling that some of my post hyster friends talk about.
Just an idea...

Re: The DRYNESS is killing me!
I use LUVENA. Order is online at target. It is a prebiotic.
I also put 1/2 tsp. of plain greek yogurt into my vagina.
Am looking at a product called YES. It is advertised on here. Says it is a lubriant and moisterizer. And doesn't appear to be expensive. You can get it either water based or oil based.

Ditto to the Yes. It's all I'll use. We prefer the water-based. You'll need to go to their web site because that's how it's sold (from England). Shipping is very reasonable.

Re: The DRYNESS is killing me!
In Australia there is a lovely one called Sylk it is fruit based and the best..
I have found silicone based ones last longest, but when I want all natura, I grab some amazing cold pressed coconut oil. I found it was awesome lubricant .. smells like beach and tropics too

Re: The DRYNESS is killing me!
I thought my husband would allow for my issues to be a phase of our life, but found out from my internet history that was not the case.....he is a very unhappy person with my problems....and i believe if he had a better option, would go that route...as far as i am concerned, my marriage is over....i stay for the insurance and income...a sad fact many women in their fifties often have to face.....the hyst damaged my life and he destroyed it.....i am now seeking to find a dr for what i know after 10 yrs is ligament problems that never got resolved or put off to other things......i hope no one goes through what i have....it is a very lonely place to be...
