Family doctor or Gyno

Yesterday when I went in for my six month check up my doctor dropped the bomb that she was closing her practice. Now I am in a puzzle as to finding a new doctor. Last August I had a total hysterectomy including cervix perform by this doctor and have been on Elestrin gel since then. She also sent me for regular mammograms, performed PAP smears and breast exams. Do I now seek out a new Gyno or a regular family doctor????

Re: Family doctor or Gyno

The best doctor is the one that will handle all your needs. It could be a gyno or a family doctor. I see a mixture of both. I found a great Osteopathic doctor that does my paps, breast exam and orders the mammogram and bone density tests. I have a GP for everything else. If it came down to it, I know my GP would do the pap and order the mammogram if I needed him to.

Re: Family doctor or Gyno

I now use a family practitioner and am happy with her. She does my exams and orders my mammograms and dexa scans. Kim's right, it's whoever takes care of your needs and you feel most comfortable with.
