Abdominal Binder

Will my ob/gyn automatically give me an abdominal binder when I leave the hospital or while I'm in the hospital or is this something I need to purchase on my own if I feel I need it? Thank u for all your help I'm still new here just joined yesterday so thank you for putting up with me if I'm annoying and asking some stupid questions.

Hugs to all <3

Re: Abdominal Binder

I know for my C sections I got one abdominal binder for one child and none for the other section. So you may or may not get one also the one I got was pretty cheesy.. and did not work that well.. the ones I have seen in stores are a lot better then the one I got.

Also they were VERY nice after the section so I am ASSUMING they would be VERY nice after abdominal surgery.

Re: Abdominal Binder

Hello
First off please know there are no annoying or stupid questions. This is a wonderful site full of helpful information and wonderful people. I do not know what I would have done without the help and support of this site.
I asked my Dr about the binder. She told me she was sending me home with one. When I woke up from surgery it was on me. Reading through the site not all Drs do. I would ask your Dr so you will know. I find the binder very useful. I used it constantly for the first week and a half. Now I mostly wear it just at night.
I had a LAVH also. So any questions you may have please feel free to ask. Everybody is different on healing, etc but if I can help in any way let me know.

Re: Abdominal Binder

Ask when you first check so they can order it. My gyn convinced me not to use one. I had d'vinci that turned into abdominal. So I have little incisions everywhere plus long bikini cut. He didn't think binder would make me comfortable with all of that. So I never used it and it didn't need it. But I did find out if you ask before hand they can order it and put it on you after surgery so you wake up with it. Good luck on your surgery. See you on the other side.

I have not posted everything yet. I was only in the hospital a day. I went in at 8am but my surgery did not actually happen until about 10 or 11 due to some delays, but I was made comfortable. The surgery takes about 2hrs my Dr said, but mine took a little longer due to finding endomentriosis(which we suspected I had) and some bleeding, but everything went well. I woke around 4pm. Not much pain. They kept it under control. Was out of hospital by 2pm the next day.

Re: Abdominal Binder

Has your Dr said how long you would be in the hospital? From what I know with LAVH it is usually a day, but each Dr is different. My surgery came on kinda fast, but I was able to gather a lot of information from this site. I used what I gathered from this site to ask my Dr lots of questions to see what was going to happen with me.

He said one to two nights possibly. We're waiting on biopsy results that he did to come back. The way I understand it is that if the biopsy results come back bad he is going to move it up before the 10th. But he only does surgery on Mondays. I have a 9cm cyst on my ovaries also so I'm really anxious to get the show on the road.
