Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 20-Aug 26,2012

Hello All,

Five days post op for me, and I am doing very well. I am feeling cooped up and antsy since I cannot drive.

My discomfort is really minimal with the pain meds. I have to hold myself back from doing things, bending over..etc. This will drive me crazy as I do live alone. I purchased a reacher to pick up things from the floor..but it is more difficult to not do things than I imagined.

I wish you all the best.

Thank you so much. I felt like I was crazy looking this way. Now I am a bit moody but I have my ovaries! Your response just gave me hope.

I am still feeling terrible and feel like I am feeling worse as the day goes on. My head feels like it is going to explode and I am so dizzy. I also feel like I might throw up at any moment. Is this normal? I thought I would be feeling at least a little better by now but I'm not. I am hoping it is just because I need to poop. As soon as my kids are up from their nap my husband is going to get me some suppositories as the laxatives I've taken haven't worked at all. I can handle the pain, it is this dizziness that is driving me nuts. I hope it goes away soon. Glad to hear so many of you are starting to feel a bit better and able to lower doses of meds. I'm just a slow healer I guess.

I found a reacher helped me a lot.
I didn't have to stretch up or bend over, and if anything was too heavy for the litter picker - it fell out of the grip!
I could even load and unload the washing machine - so long as someone else carried the basket of clothes.

You are not a slow healer, frankmn. It has only been 4 days!
The first 8 weeks are the most critical, so just relax and take it slowly.

The nausea could be linked to the general anasthetic, but after 4 days, possibly that should be out of your system by now.

Are your pain meds alright, and you are not having a bad reaction to them?
Some sisters do get nausea, but it does pass.
Are you still using the breathing tube, or are you breathing deeply enough on your own now?
I think I mentioned that too much deep breathing used to make me dizzy, after about 10 breaths.

Rest when you are tired. Potter around when you feel up to it, and don't be too hard on yourself.

frankmn: I agree with Mrslibrarylady. You are only 4 days post op! Try to think long term with your healing, measure you progress in terms of weeks rather than days. At 6 months most women are 80% healed and at 12 months, 100%.

Hello all. I got home yesterday evening from a TAH. The surgery itself went fine. I'm very sore and sleepy, and thanks to the outcome of my labs (stage iii endometrial cancer) I'm a bit of a wreck emotionally, but I'm here, and I'm ready to fight another day.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 20-Aug 26,2012

Today has been a miserable day for me. I started throwing up this evening and I'm pretty sure there is nothing left in there. I took a suppository to try and poop and it wasn't working either. I finally got a little out, but know there is more to come. I called the nurse and if I throw up again and don't get more poop to come out I need to go to the ER. She said worse case scenario it could be a bowel obstruction causing the puking and not being able to go much. I really hope I don't have to go to the ER and just start feeling better on my own. My stomach is aching now from the puking.

Hi everyone. I'm Nikki 36. Had a Davinci TLH on Thurs. the 23rd. Was sent home the same day. Very sore yesterday but it seemed to ease up a little today. Tonight, it feels like all the muscles in my lower back are pulled. Is this normal?
