Surgery on Wednesday and I think I'm getting a UTI!

Thinking about a trip to urgent care tomorrow to get tested for a UTI because it feels like I'm getting one! Will this potentially delay my surgery? This is almost an emergency TAH, the doctor did not want to wait until the end of the month, next month because of the pain I am in! Worried and nervous!

Re: Surgery on Wednesday and I think I'm getting a UTI!

It's probably best to get it sorted.
You will most likely require a catheter which I found irritated me and I have had pain when urinating since they took my catheter out. They've tested me for a UTI but I'm negative and it's getting better with time. Best of luck for Wednesday.

Call your doctor ASAP. Let them know what is going on. If they postpone your surgery, it is because it is better for your health.

Re: Surgery on Wednesday and I think I'm getting a UTI!

Very minor UTI confirmed. Started on Bactrim immediately. I attempted to call my doctor's office first thing this a.m. but did not wait for another day for the situation to get worse. Urgent care doc decided to put me on meds because I am facing surgery. Here is to hoping I caught it in time for the doctor to give me the all clear for surgery!!!

Surgery is a go and I'm a wreck! Update--surgery cancelled

I'm a mess! Surgery is Wednesday and I'm freaking out about it! The hospital just called to confirm and do my pre-op interview. I have to go get blood work done today, and I was given the all clear by the doctor to have surgery in spite of being put on antibiotics for a mild UTI. Anyone else ever get more anxious and freaked out as the day approaches?

Re: Surgery is a go and I'm a wreck!

Absolutely!!! I haven't had my hyster yet, but I've had two other (more mild) surgeries and I was a complete and total wreck for them! I was on the verge of tears multiple times and all trembly with fear.

Don't worry, sis; you're going to be just fine and, once recovery is over and all those horrible symptoms are gone, you're going to be SO happy!!

[hugs]

It is normal what you are feeling. Take a deep breath. Everything is going to be OK. On Wednesday you will begin the 1st day of a better quality of life.
I pray that a spirit of peace is placed upon you and that all of your fears are calmed
Lots of((HUGS)) to you

Re: Surgery is a go and I'm a wreck!

it's been less than a week for me- my surgery was friday, and i am telling you i was a total wreck, but even 3 days post op, i am already noticing huge changes that i hadn't even thought of that remind me that i needed to do this. even though you know in your head there is stuff wrong, some things don't appear until afterwards- i used to have to pee constantly, but nothing ever came out-now since my surgery i don't have to go nearly as often, and when i do go, i actually go! the constant pain in my side is gone too...

the drs wouldn't tell you you need to have this done if it wasn't neccessary. its truly the end of a chapter in your life and the beginning of a new one! let yourself freak out, but keep in mind that there is a reason behind this madness, and hang in there! we will be here for you on the other side!

Re: Surgery is a go and I'm a wreck!

I'm scheduled for September 4 and a hot mess, myself. I am riding the emotional roller coaster with peaks and valleys. Just finished my Last Period Ever, and I can't reconcile the feelings in my head. I'm finding myself wondering if I made the right decision (even though I know I did), if I REALLY need it (even though I know I do).

I've tried talking to friends about it, who have been very supportive. But I'm still freaking out.

We can freak out together.

And we'll be fine.

Re: Surgery is a go and I'm a wreck!

My surgery is Wednesday too. I feel so nervous because I keep questioning all the different options...keep ovaries or not, take cervix or not, all the what ifs...etc. Then I realize I am just thinking too much. So I am trying to renew my mind to remember that the Dr. desires to help me feel better and she has given her best advice with her many years of experience. The rest is in God's hands...and those are good hands to be in. "Casting all your care on Him; for He careth for you." 1Peter 5:7 I am praying for you!
