Graphic - Vag. Opening ???

OK - I am ten weeks post and haven't had hardly any problems. I had A&P repairs including a lot of work done around my perinium area...here goes...

Around my vaginal opening there are three bump like sacs that are swollen and very tender. I don't recall them being there before. (One might think tear tissue from previous births but with all the work I had done surely this would have been removed.)

Could these be glands??? I am totally clueless. They are obviously aggravated from recent relations. You know what I mean.

Please, take a stab in the dark for me. I will be on the phone tomorrow to my gyn to at least speak with a nurse. However, I would appreciate any responses that you ladies can offer me so that I am not so in the dark...it's gross and uncomfortable and it hurts to sit and even walk right now...very weird.

Thanks,

Mugwump

Graphic - Vag. Opening ???

Hi Meighen!

I'm sorry - I wouldn't have a clue about this, but I did want to pop in and give you a HUG and tell you it is very good that you will be consulting your DR about this.

Please let us know how everything goes, okay? Hope you feel better soon!

Graphic - Vag. Opening ???

Yup yup yup...sounds like aggravated Bartholin's glands. I had a prolapsed uterus I tried to ignore after having a 9lb baby and after sex I would swell and they would swell up. Then after having my ovaries removed and being unable to have estrogen due to endo, atrophy made the vaginal walls do the same collapsing thing and here come those little glands. How are your estrogen levels? Are you on HRT? Also, are you on your feet too much? I tend to swell up when I am on my feet too much. I never had the A&P repair so I am not sure how long swelling is supposed to be normal. Talk to your doc. After I had my vulvectomy last Valentine's day (they removed my inner labia and all of my perinium and into the vaginal wall) I wasn't healing well so they put me on estrogen cream and it healed really well. Talk to your doctor. When in doubt, ALWAYS talk to your doctor!! Let me know how it goes.

Bartholin Glands

Mugwump,
I'm no doctor, but there are glands in the vagina called Bartholin glands. I only know about this because a relative used to have problems with Bartholin cysts ... I believe it was like an infection and sometimes the cysts had to be drained. Don't mean to scare you or anything, but this seems like a possibility.
I'd go to the webmd.com website and do a search on Bartholin glands to see what they say.
Hang in there ... this sounds miserable and the timing is rotten too!

I got one while I was preg with my son. It finall drained itself after about a year or so.. ARGH. It was awful. My doc was not concerned about it. But it is a clogged gland. It can be drained.
