Sever Cramping 6 weeks after attempted ablation

In August I had an attempted endometrial ablation done but the dr. said that she made several attempts, but the tool they use to perform the procedure would insert and fit correctly. Also, she did a D&C to make sure there weren't other issues too.
My doctor said she wanted me to try a low dosage of the birth control pill since I won't be having any children in the future.

It has been approx 6 weeks after and now my first period time is here. I have been having severe cramping and no bleeding. I found myself feeling like I could not sit up and had to lay down because the pain was sooo intense. I never had cramps like this before.
Is this normal and has any one bee in the same situation?
