5 days post-op LAVH

I came home two days after surgery. I was allergic to 3 different pain medications. Two made me itchy and the third made me diapheretic. (sweating profusely and nausea) But I finally found one drug that worked for me. I haven't needed any pain meds today, but it is still early. I am able to get up and walk around, and then I need to rest. Stairs are difficult and I have a hard time catching my breath sometimes, but all in all I feel pretty good. I was able to keep my ovaries, so no HRT, but I could swear I was having a hot flash on Saturday. Has anyone else had that feeling?

Hi photopro

I had my surg. same day and kept my ovaries.
I had such a crying jag the day I came home, which was friday, I was scared I was going to have to go back in because I came down with the flu and was vomiting and had dia. ...
I also had a crying jag on Sat. my post op is this weds. and I will definatly ask why.....Aside from having chills from the flu the first day home I have had a few hot flashes. I think our ovaries just had a mental breakdown and cant figure out why we ripped thier partner (our uterus) out of us..hehehehe that is my theory and will find out for sure weds. I am 34 and not ready for hot flashes yet!!!!!!!!

Hi There!

I don't have first hand experience, as I was not able to keep my ovaries. But I do understand that the ovaries may tend to 'go to sleep' after the trauma of hysterectomy, often causing some menopausal symptoms in the absence of the ovaries' secretion of hormones. Further, I have read that it varies greatly from one woman to the next as to how long the ovaries will 'sleep'.

Hello Photopro
I am so glad to hear that you are home, and starting to feel better. :jumping: You will feel a little better each day.
I kept my ovaries, and the first few days after surgery I got hotflashes I woke up serveral different nights wet with sweat. It is very common after surgery for your ovaries to go to sleep. It is different for each person on how long it last. It only lasted about a week for me. I wish now that I could get those hotflashes because I am cold all the time. lol
Take Care
