lumpy incision

Hi guys- I am 4 weeks from a TAH/BSO- when I am laying on my back, I have a lump on the right side of my incision. It;s been there for a couple of weeks. It feels hard, like there's major scar tissue or something! I was just wondering if any of you were or had experienced this. Thanks!

I'm three weeks post-op (today, actually). I have hard lumps at both ends of my incision. My doctor told me at my last check (2 1/2 weeks post-op) that these will go away as the rest of the swelling does. She told me to expect the swelling to last one month for each decade of my life (three - four months for me, at age 37).

I'm 5 weeks post-op. I've had a lump at the bottom of my vertical incision and a smaller lump further up. The lump at the bottom is getting smaller - I think tissue just accumulated there. The other lump is smaller, too. I think it was just a pulled stitch.

If its painful, call your doctor. Some women have reported developing hernias by lifting too much weight too soon.

Yup, I too have the hard incision and hardness where the drain was. My told me not to touch it! I do not think it is permanent scarring just part of the healing process. I did not get the impression from my doctor that it would be permanent. The only warning I got was that I might discover scarring in the vaginal area once I began having sex that could cause discomfort and if that happenned then she could try to remove that scarring.

Well, we have lots of time to discover all the intricacies of our surgery. I too am at 3 weeks post op today and I am finding all of a sudden I have pain in muscle groups that I did not have them in before. Guess as the nerves regenerate and numbness disappears, everything kicks in. The only bright side is that it is freezing here and a snow storm, and I am lying in bed in my electric blanket in my jammies!

may all your aches be temporary and all your gifts be chocolate!

Yes, I had that too. Both sides, but more so on my right side. It will go away. It just has to heal. It does take quite a while though!
