one week - bleeding

I had a LAVH/BSO one week ago. I experienced very little discharge of any type last week. Also felt really good up until today. Today I am exhausted, have some abd pain and some bleeding .... not a whole lot and not bright red but definately a shade of red! I was just surprised after nothing for a week. Is this normal (my dr office is closed now that I feel the need for reassurance!) and when should I be concerned.

one week - bleeding

Vickie, you should be concerned if the blood is bright red or if you're bleeding heavily (a pad or more an hour). You might just want to call the doctor tomorrow to put your mind at ease.

one week - bleeding

Hi, my surgery was a week ago, too, and I haven't had any bleeding. Did your activity change? If so, perhaps you're pushing yourself too fast. Relax, sit down and put your feet up. Call your doctor, though. It will put your mind at ease.

Take care.

one week-bleeding

hi,vickie. i bled for the first two weeks at home-too much stair-climbing for me. you MUST limit your physical activity to getting up to go to the bathroom,if you have to climb stairs to do it,and to taking meals, unless they can be brought to your room. although,i must caution you about too much lying in bed,as well. you need to get out of bed and move around for the sake of keeping your circulation going. this prevents bed sores, and is much needed to help you heal faster than just lying around doing nothing. do some walking, weather permitting, outside. a change of scenery will lift your spirits and speed your recovery, mentally and emotionally. no cleaning, laundry, trash removal, vacuuming, that kind of stuff. THAT can either be done by family members,or keep until you are past your 6 week checkup. it's not important enough to risk your health for the sake of a cleaner house. enlist hubby, children, mom, sibs, etc!!! oh,and if you have pets that require exercise, such as a dog,get someone to feed it and walk it,even if you have to pay someone to do it!!!! it'll be worth saving yourself, and keeping you from straining your insides. good luck.

You are okay!!

I had an LAVH/RSO w/appendectomy on 1/8/02 & I, like you, had nothing for the first week...but starting my second week, I began bleeding lightly & I am now almost 4 weeks post-op & I am still having some bloody discharge...the says it is normal & it could last up to 6 or 8 weeks.
As far as you doing, too much to cause the bleeding...it is not necessarily true cause I did NOTHING but lay around.

Take care of yourself

If you notice your discharge changing, you may want to call your

one week - bleeding

My surgery was 1/15/02 and I did not bleed one drop for 1 week and one morning I woke up bleeding and scared to death! My doctor tried to do a pelvic and I could not stand the pain, so to the operating room I went. Everything was still stitched and fine so she sent me down for a CT scan which showed a Hematoma at the cuff the size of a grapefruit. I still have bleeding and at my last scan it had decreased some in size. I am scared, but I am told it will be fine.

Good Luck!

Bleeding-post-0p

I had a tah on 2/02/02 and asked my doctor: how much bleedng I should expect, and he responded" asmidge, dry blood, if anything, a brown spot like you period is ending. " I didn't have one :dance2: spot! of bleeding. Last night my husband was in the refrigerator putting away groceries, he came up low and fast and head butted me in the abdomen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Knocking me off my feet and the kitchen chair top was pushed into my . abdomen as aI grappled with my balance.Needeless to say I saw stars and sank to my knees. He apoligigized abot 20 time. He picked me up and put me in bed, gave me a pain pill and in the middle of the am, I got up to pee and frank red blood was on the tissue!!!!! To make a long story short the chair had bruised my bladder and the wants to see me tommorow again. This set me back about a week in progress. Thank God it was not to serious. Remmember accidents do happen, please be careful, your in a sensitive state right now God bless all of us!: Sincerely. Karan

one week - bleeding

hi!! i am 6months post-op,but when i am in an area that is narrow, and people are trying to squeeze by me,i do find that my midsection is tender to the touch against firm surfaces, like countertops and desks. i don't bleed anymore, unless my hemorrhoid is causing it,but i was fine in the hospital. when i went home,is when i started to bleed, and the staples were removed on 7/30/01 in her office. god, what a relief!!!! i couldn't sleep on my side, until they came out. my scar is a lovely shade of light pink, almost invisible in some places!!!!! i still feel the healing from time to time, for sure, and will until and even after the first year is up,in july. take care of yourself, and warn your hubby about playing like that. he could've hurt you!!!! fortunately for you,it wasn't anything serious, but next time...

To bjsbjs and BrazenGem

Good luck to bjsbjs and BrazenGem. Hope that the two of you get back on track and continue recovering without any more mishaps or misfortunes. Your two different stories have a common message. I am almost two weeks out, now and feeling good.
:caution:
However, your two stories, one emphasizing that hidden problems could exist, and the other sharing about accidents that can happen, really helped to warn me to be vigilant and approach all activities with an extra degree of caution. Thanks for sharing your stories. It's a good reminder.

I know that the two of you will get the medical attention that you need and be fit and a fiddle in no time.
:jumping
The important thing is to keep a positive attitude. It's good medicine.
