effexor
Hi ladies,
Does anyone know anything about effexor. My doc wants me to try it because I have a lot of symptoms still and have tried every kind of estrogen out there. Currently I am on the Climara patch
(change it every four days) and 1.25 ortho-est once a day. Well
now I am taking this antidepressant that I am not happy about.
I have tried it for 2 days and boy does it have some yucky side effects! They say it takes your body a week or so to get used to.
I just want to know if anyone out there is taking it and if so how are you doing with it.
I think I will try just about anything to feel better. It's been 1 1/2
years since my surgery and they have not been fun!
Thanks
AnnaMary

Can't help you from personal experience but I have a friend who takes Effexor and she says it made all the difference in the world for her but it took about 3 weeks for it to really start working.
Also I don't know what kind of yucky side effects you are feeling but the Climara patch had terrible yucky side effects for me I could not use it. I was dizzy, nauseous, had a terrible headache, ached like I had the flu. Just want you to be aware that maybe it's not the Effexor.

That's a LOT of estrogen AnnaMary which suggests you're having trouble absorbing it or keeping it in your system. In which case, help with the brain chemistry might be a good thing.
You really have to give these things a few weeks, but if they don't get better or you don't notice a change in mood--do see your doctor. Where one fails another will work. I tried Paxil, which works great for many, and for me it was  but now I'm on Wellbutrin (very low dose) and it works like a charm. But I do recall a month of settling in with the side effects which have pretty much all gone away.
A bit of hormones, a bit of synthroid, a bit of antidepressant has made a world of difference for me, but it took some tweaking to get all three in line.
You might want to look at my current article for the HJ--I tried to look at how closely they all work together up there in our brains. I found out why it takes tweaking at least.

I take Effexor XR
Hi AnnaMary,
I take Effexor XR (extended release) 150mg daily. I take it about 3 pm, it helps to relax me and I sleep better. I have been taking it for about a year now. It has helped me soooooooooo much. I had endometrosis and I couldn't take estrogen for a while after my surgery. My doctor told me that it has helped women with hot flashes, especially those who couldn't take estrogen.
When I first started taking it, it made me naseated. That passed in about a week. I never got sick to my stomach, I just didn't have much of an appetite. It also helped with my mood swings. I would just snap at people for no reason before taking it. Now I'm much better. If you have any other questions, just ask.
Take care, and good luck.
Mary
