length of hospital stay?
I had my TAH on a Thursday morning, and went home Sunday afternoon. My doctor originally said I would go home Saturday, but I was still VERY nauseated, so stayed an extra day.
Unfortunately, I can't be much help on the hormone question, because I kept my ovaries, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can help!

length of hospital stay?
Hi Nancy
The length of your hospital stay will depend on several things: the procedure you're having, your doctor and hospital's policies on this issue, you insurance (if you live in the US) and your condition, both pre-op and post-op.
From what I've seen on this web-site, the average stay for a TAH is 4 to 5 days; for a TVH is 2 to 3 days and for a SLH 1 to 2 days.
I had a TVH and was in the castle for 5 days, because I was being monitored for very heavy blood loss.

length of hospital stay?
Hi Nancy, My hospital stay was 2 night and 3 days. My surgery was very early in the morning on a Tuesday and I came home late in the afternoon on Thursday.
As for HRT, I couldn't start on any HRT for 6 weeks due to endo. Then my doctor started me on Prempro. So far, so good. No problems at all.
I'm not familiar with Soy problems but someone else might be along soon who can help you there. You might ask about the soy and digestion of your pills in the Hormone Jungle forum. See if any of the ladies there can help you out any.
Take care!

length of hospital stay?
Hi Flowers.
I had my TAH on Wed, Jan. 30 and was home on Sat. Feb. 2nd so thats 3 days. Once you start moving gas, have somewhat of a bowel movement and get walking you can go home. It's much better to be home in your own bed and quieter as well! I found the first 3 days home were a little tough but it gets better each day.
As for HRT, I kept my ovaries so I'm sure someone will come along to talk about that to you. I imagine doctor's vary in what form they use, my roommate got a shot in the hip, so it may be best to ask your doctor what's good for you.
Good luck to you!

length of hospital stay?
Hi Nancy,
I went in for surgery 1/21 at 7:30am, I went home Thursday 1/24 at 10:00am. I did not have to have a BM, Ididn't have one till Friday which I brought on by emema. You are much better off at home. The castle is a very noisy place and you don't get enough rest. I kept my ovaries so can't help you with the second part of your question. Good luck to you! Everything will be fine!!

length of hospital stay?
Hi,
I had a TAH/BSO on Friday morning and left the castle Tuesday afternoon. The doctor said he would have released me on Monday except I still had a low grade fever. So, I was in the hospital 4 nights, 5 days.
I was started on Premarin .625 at my one week check-up. So far it is ok. That was also when he took out my 23 staples.
Best of luck to you.

length of hospital stay?
I went in Tuesday morning and went home Thursday morning. Insurance approved me through Friday but I felt good enough to go home. It went very well although I was a little worn out from the drive home (an hour).... but boy was I glad to be in my own bed!!

length of hospital stay?
I had a TAH/BSO late on a Weds. afternoon and went home late Friday morning. I've been on Premarin .625 since 2 days post-op (9-27-00) and have done just fine.
I was OK at home, but my DH was with me through the weekend and are children are grown at not living at home anymore.
