Catheter worries - have IC

My TAH is scheduled for 1/16/13. I have large fibroids and stage 4 endometriosis. I have put this surgery off for too many years. It's time. However, I can honestly say I am more worried about what the catheter and the jostling to my bladder, what effect will it have on my bladder and IC. Will I be in bladder pain with the catheter being in? Will I be able to pee after it comes out the next day? I almost don't want the surgery based on this situation. I called my urologist and didn't feel much compassion from the woman who I spoke to. My OBGyn was understanding of my IC and didn't seem to think it would be a problem other than I might have problems to start to pee the next day as that is "normal". Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Catheter worries - have IC

I dreaded the catheter also, but really didn't notice that it was in. I was able to pee just fine it was just a little slow but that was probably me not pushing for fear of hurting.

Re: Catheter worries - have IC

Do you have IC? Also I noticed that you had your TAH 2 months ago, how do you feel? How many days, weeks until you were more agile? I know that you are totally still recovering but how soon was it that you could do things on your own (I think that is what I'm asking)

Sorry, I just realized it has only been one month since your surgery. Even more important, how are you feeling?
