4 Months Post-Op , Is anyone else's breasts enlarging!?!

Hi!

I had a TVH on Oct 2nd and had my right ovary removed. The only signs of PMS I still experience are left ovarian twinges and tender/burning breasts. But other than that I haven't felt so good in years!

My weight has stayed pretty much consistent, maybe up or down about 5 pounds. I have a medium build and have always been about a 34B to 36C depending on where my weight is at. But since surgery I have noticed it seems like my breasts are growing at an accelerated speed....like light speed! None of my bras are fitting and my shirts are starting to not look so nice. I'm guessing I have to be well into a D cup by now! They hurt and I swear I can tell when they are swelling more! Of course the DH is loving the change, but I personally am finding it a bit uncomfortable! If they continue at the rate they have been I think I might have to change my name to Dolly! LOL

I was wondering if maybe it could be hormones, but I am not having any other "hormonal" signs so I thought I would see if anyone else was or has experienced this!?! before I called my doc.

Thanks in advance! ~Carebear

That happened to me, too

After my hyster, having kept both ovaries, they seemed to go into overdrive for quite a while. It felt like when I breast fed my daughter. It stayed that way for months, then it seemed the hormones just totally kicked out. I'm 51 and expected that. Suddenly last week they kicked in again and I feel that old familiar swelling starting again..

It seems that I have read a few posts here in the last 2 years where women with ovaries had this happen to them.

Don't know what else to tell you, but it can hurt, huh? Linda

I experienced some of this too

My surgery was in July. For the first 2-3 mos. my breasts felt swollen, lumpy and tender just like before a period. I have been and "almost D cup" for a while now. About 3 years ago I got a measurement before buying new bras and was told I needed to go up a cup size from the C cup, even though the D cup was just a tad loose. I think the increase had something to do with having breastfed. But here recently I had noticed the cups were fuller. Now the tenderness and swollen feeling seems to have settled down some, however my one ovary does not seem to be working as well as it should and I just went on HRT. I remember reading somewhere that estrogen could cause breast enlargement, so I would guess that either HRT or soaring hormones jumping around post surgically could both cause this.

Oh, on a funny experience note, I just recently had my first mammogram done. The technician was having difficulty getting the 2nd view films done. She then made the remark, "I just don't seem to be able to get as much tissue up in the plate on that left breast as I did the right one." I laughed and said, "Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my right breast is slightly larger than the left." She said, "Oh really, is that it?" I then told her that I had noticed it years ago by how my bras fit, one cup is just a slightly bit looser than the other. She then concurred that was what was the difference. LOL, I guess we can't all be perfect!
