Climara ?

Hi fellow sisters .

I go to the castle tomorrow. Can't wait to get it over and
done with. I'll be losing everything. GYN said that she is going to start me off
with Climara - not sure of dosage though. She gave me choice of pills or patch. I chose patch. I want to eventually change over to the plant estrogen creams though.

Anyway, any tips or side effects that you have had using Climara (good and/or bad comments) ???

Thanks,
Dawn

Climara ?

Dawn,
Climara is a good place to start. The only thing I can of think of that is negative is that some have trouble keeping that particular patch stuck. Here's a thread with some helpful tips http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...?threadid=3323

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.

Climara ?

Lots of women do well with Climara............I couldn't take it. Gave me a terrible headache, I felt dizzy and nauseous all the time............like I had the flu. I also had a problem with it sticking to me..........it was supposed to be good for a week. I work out almost every day and of course shower every day, and by the 4th day it was starting to come off around the edges. I had read to point my hair dryer at it and that would help it stick again, and it did, but who wants to mess with that after showers for 3 or 4 days out of a week? Anyway it made me feel lousy so I went back on Premarin. But a lot of the women who post on here love Climara, you may do very well on it. Since you asked for good or bad comments, I thought I'd tell you how it affected me.
Good luck with your surgery!

Name brand importance!!!

I was put on climara as well and when it came time to fill my prescription my insurance company will only cover generics where available, so I recieved a, what I considered huge, padded patch, very bothersome, and somewhat cumbersome on my 104 lb frame. The worst part was it wouldn't stay on, by the 2nd day it would start to come off. So my dr put me on the vivelle dot, same med, you just have to change it twice a week instead of once and it doesn't yet have a generic counterpart, no problems with the adhesive not sticking either. Anyway just so you know. I really liked the climara patch, just not the generic version of it.

Well, Good luck to you and big

Climara ?

Hi, Dawn.
I had everything taken out, too, but I'm doing GREAT on Climara! I have no trouble at all with the patch adhering. I'm pretty active and take two showers a day. I was on Estratest for a while but gave that up (pimples, weight gain). Then I was switched to Cenestin (bad rash all over my arms and legs, sleepiness). I guess the third time's the charm because I feel like Climara is producing the best results. I've lost some weight and kept it off, the rash has disappeared, and my moods seem to be under control. I also feel like I have more energy.
Best of luck with your surgery!

hello

Just wanted to say I have just started on climara a week ago. I tried premarin .625 but I had a lot of sides. So far the climara is working. I did have the patch lift a bit around the edges but I just cut it off as suggested by the manufacturer. I change it tomorrow so I think it made it!

So far so good, knock wood!!!

Climara ?

Well ladies, I'm home from the castle. Doing pretty well.
However, walked way too much during my stay (according to the nurse that took care of me today). Couldn't sleep - so I walked
instead. Tried to nap at home today. Succeeded for 1/2 hour but have been awake ever since ! Sure hope that this problem is just my body's reaction to all the pain meds.

Anyway, I appreciate your comments about Climara. GYN gave me 3 .05 mg patches to bring home with me. She wants me to wait until I have my first hot flash before applying the patch.

JokerJane - thanks for the tip on the insurance. I believe that mine is the same way. However, if the prescription is written
"fill as prescribed", then they will pay for Climara instead of the generic. GYN wrote me a prescription today for it. Will call her tomorrow to have her send me another one with "fill as" written on it.

Thanks again ladies.....it's back to laying down for me.
