numbness and "hard spots"

Gracie - Numbness around incision lasts awhile. I had it for about a year....but it gradually returned. My dr. told me at post op appt. that some numbness may always be there..but I have just about all my feeling back.

Not sure what the hard spots are..but I'd call your dr. in the AM just to run it by him/her. There have been other posts regarding that...use search icon at the top and search by keyword "hard" that may bring up some older posts to read while waiting for others to reply.

numbness and "hard spots"

Hi Gracie,

I have numb areas in my incision line even now and I am almost 6 months post op. But, they are lessening.

I also have "hard spots" -- my incision kind of feels like a knotted rope. My doctor said it was normal and they usually subside with time. My incision is fading and the knots are getting smaller. I have heard that some doctors have recommended putting Vitamin E on the incision to soften it and reduce the appearance of the scar.

But, I agree with Dot that you should call your doctor with this question and any others you may have. It is very early in your recovery and since you did have the fever previously, I think it is wise for you to run all symptoms by your doctor.

Stay in touch and let us know what you find out from your doc. Keep us updated on how you are feeling and progressing.

Very best wishes,

Blessings and s
