acne

Sisters...
I'd like to stop taking my hormones due to the latest research about 70% increased breast cancer risk after 5 years. However, whenever I cut down to less than 1mg Estrace, I begin to break out in zits! My doc measured testosterone levels, and they are only 20 (which is on the very low end of normal), but without any estrogen it seems to put me enough out of balance that I get acne. I use Metrocream and benzoyl peroxide is too irritating at this stage of my life. Any ideas?

acne

Hi.

I've suffered from acne for years and I also don't like benzyl peroxide(sp?).

I just bought a product from a beauty salon (a facial cleanser) that a lady who suffers with acne says really helped her. I have to try it. Unfortunately it was a little expensive, but it is called ultracalming cleanser and is made by dermalogica. I don't know if you can get this where you live, but I tried many over-the-counter products, and not much helped. I also don't take hrt. I had Polycystic ovaries and endometriosis, and acne was an unpleasant result of my hormonal imbalance. Maybe this product will help.

Good luck!
Alexia

p.s. A number on the back of the box is 1-800-831-5150 to get more info on the product

acne

Hi

I have used the Dermatalogica products & they didn't work for me.
I have acne-still at age 35-and I am on my 2nd HRT. I have recently found something that has worked for me and it has done wonders for my acne. The herb, Red Clover concentrated capsules 1000 mg. from GNC. I have took it for 2 weeks & my face does not have the usual oilness, which I am glad for. I thought this may upset my stomach but it hasn't. I currently take Estratest FS also. Hope I helped.

acne

I had an outbreak of what I thought was acne so I went to see the dermatologist. I even called it "adult acne".

I found out I had a skin condition called rosacea, and it is very treatable. They have not determined a "cure", but if I am faithful with using my special facial cleanser and antibiotic lotion, I have no breakouts.

Hugs,

acne

Ugh, I am having this problem too recently. I had problems when I was young but that all cleared up when I used BCPs. Now it is back. I have PCOS so I know that it is probably testosterone causing the problem. Right now I don't have any suggestions. Still trying to figure it out. Thanks for the ideas.
